Another pumpkin decorating idea I found while at Mother Nature's Pumpkin Patch - was decorating pumpkins with stickers. They are the soft and cushion type of stickers. They are not messy and kids around 2-4 years old just love stickers in general. These types of stickers can be found at any Micheal's or Joanne's.

You're right about them loving stickers--though I found stickers didn't stick well on my pumpkin's nearly waxy skin--so I opted for Mr./Mrs. Potatohead parts; for us, they seemed to stick better and have the same satisfyingly random effect!

We've been painting them and adding glitter. I can't say they look very cute in the end (at least to me) but the kids absolutely love this and it's great for all ages.
