Crayola Window Markers

My husband told me I was crazy. I bought our girls (8 and 5) Crayloa Window Markers. They are washable. That is a problem. It takes alot of paper towels and windex to get back a clean window. A girlfriend told me to use a dry eraser and it is it alot easier. I have yet to try that. My girls love to now color on our french doors. They are cool, but be prepared. Has anyone else used them and if so any other tricks for getting it off the windows? I know I need to try the dry eraser......

I've tried them with my girls and they LOVED them but I'm not sold on them at all -- you're right, they require massive paper towels. I hadn't heard about the dry eraser technique... I'm about to put them away though because my youngest thinks that since she can color on windows, the walls are fair game too.

haven't tried them yet but try a mix of white vinegar and water to remove them - that's the best window cleaner.

I've not tried those Crayola markers before, but we have used liquid chalk (mostly on cars). I still use those dry erase markers from class. They come in all kinds of different colors, and are easy to clean up with a damp paper towel (our exterior windows sometimes need the washing anyway.) We've always used dry erase markers on the inside glass--precisely because cleanup was guaranteed easy. Mirrors and windows in our house have all at times held things like artwork, grocery lists, target dieting silhouettes, and "love you, mom!" or other such notes.

I applaud your willingness to invite art to your windows! I do think making cleanup easy is key to everyone's happiness with it, though, and if Crayola's not working, get some other dry erase markers and have at it!

I agree - I never bought them b/c I was scared that if I taught my kids to write on windows....perhaps the walls would be next!
Or, what about the day they drew on the window...with the wrong kind of marker?...a Sharpie, god forbid!

Good luck - you all are braver than I!!

I loved these when my daughter was younger. I have a big glass coffee table that I would let her use for her art work and two Arcadia doors. I never had a hard time getting them cleaned off, but they might have changed the formula by now. I never tried the dry erase, but I use wet erase at school and always get the color on my hands when I use overheads. It is hard to get off.
