Thanks for sharing! Once
Thanks for sharing! Once the holiday chaos is over, usually well past Jan., I like to take the Christmas cards we've received and make a scrapbook with them. I spotlight the photo cards with the other cards as background decoration on the pages. It's fun to re-visit past year's scrapbooks to see how our family and friend's kids have changed over the years.

When I was a kid, my mother used to let us cut up the cards, glue them to poster board, laminate them and turn them into holiday place mats. Okay, so she wasn't exactly Martha Stewart but in retrospect, it was a great idea and we always had fun doing it!

What a great idea!
Decoupage is an excellent craft to do with kids, and holiday cards are a perfect source of paper. And that would be recycling, too, no?
Every year we take the cards
Every year we take the cards from the years before and cut them up for new cards. We take the pictures off the front of the cards and make them a nice addition to the home made cards we send every year. People really appreciate them cause they know it took a lot of time and effort to make them, they are not just store bought. Although after we make about 50 cards, I buy about 10 for the people I forgot to make cards for. LOL>>I try to get everyone but a few always slip my mind until the last min. With 4 kids, a lot slips my mind...

I have a cousin who's an artist and she uses parts of the old Christmas cards, pastes them onto watercolor paper, and watercolors new designs around the cutouts. They're beautiful, unique and very thoughtful. I thought I'd have the kids try it this summer when we're needing projects to keep busy.
