I have a great idea for a fun science/nature study for kids of all ages. This time of year the local nurseries and Home Depot, among others, sell bags of live ladybugs and a preying mantis egg case. The kids love to let the ladybugs loose in the back yard (and I love the way they eat the aphids in the garden). The preying mantis egg is case is pretty neat - baby preying mantises hatch in about 3 weeks. And if you don't have a bug phobia - those babies are pretty cute (if you can call a baby bug cute!). My kids love bugs so this stuff is right up their alley.

This is a great idea! I did not know they had the praying mantis at any of the stores so this will be really neat for my kids.
