Hi all! Soon it will be time to swim again. I am an Instructor with Infant Swimming Resource in Glendale. While it is winter, we'll soon have weather that puts us outside regularly (even if not hot enough to swim)
Please take time to:
1. Check your gates, locks, and pool covers or nets to make sure everything is secure!
2. If you have an alarm, make sure that the alarm is set to chime when a door is opened!
3. Review water rules with all children.
4. Investigate a water safety class or swim lessons. Of course, I believe our program is the best, but any water safety and awareness is a good start!
5. Become CPR certified. Its easy and inexpensive.. visit the red cross or your local YMCA.
6. Check out www.infantswim.com for more information on lessons for infants and toddlers ages 6 months to 6 years old.
7. Visit your local city recreation website or the YMCA for older children and stroke type lessons.
8. Nothing replaces Supervision as the most effective water safety rule!
9. Have a fun and safe swim season!

ISR is awsome. I just have
ISR is awsome. I just have to give this company major kudos! We put our 2 year old and 3 1/2 year olds in this program last summer after previously doing the once a week worthless swim classes. In 5-6 weeks our children had the swim survival skill down. We plan to enroll them in a refresher class this summer and build each year on their swimming abilities.
If you are not familiar with ISR and you have little ones, this is a fantastic program!! Many of my friends have enrolled their children in ISR throughout the valley and they have all been equally impressed.

I ditto that - ISR is the best! My son began going when he was only 7 months old. This will be his final summer - 3 years old! He is so aware of safety and confident in the water (when I look at other little ones who have not gone to ISR I can tell the difference). Several of my mom friends take our kiddos each year to an ISR instructor. This year my newest addition (baby) will start at 7 months this summer. It will be a wonderful summer of learning for both boys.

I also have had good results
I also have had good results from ISR. My daughter started as a baby and will have her lessons again this summer. At 3 years old, she can roll over, float and swim to the side of the pool. My son, 19 months, will have his second year of lessons and can already roll over and float on his back for a long time. A little spendy (especially the first year) but highly recommended!

My husband and I spent a lot
My husband and I spent a lot of time in the pool with our little ones. We taught them both. Our son didn't want extra lessons when he was older, but we did take our daughter to the YMCA when she was 3 or 4. She was well advanced of her class. We may sign her up again for more advanced classes...but she's said she doesn't want to be a swimmer...a ballerina, yes, swimmer, no.
I think it's very important parents make time to be in the water with their kids. If independent lessons work best for you, then be sure to get in the water during the lesson (if allowed) or after to reinforce what they've learned...you can have fun and talk about safety at the same time.
