Any ideas for a gift for a coach? For one set of coaches, I totally know what to get because I know them well. But the other, I just don't know very well. I want to make some suggestions to the other team parents that think outside the box.

All the parents got together
All the parents got together and purchased a restaurant gift certificate for them. I think anyone would enjoy getting this.
I bet they would appreciate
I bet they would appreciate things from their Alma Mater. People always like that, plus it's personal, fun, affordable, and nostalgic.
My husband coaches and
My husband coaches and although nothing is necessary he does seem to appreciate certificates for dinner.
Outside the box, my sister made him a whistle covered in phylo ?? clay (you know, the stuff they make beads out of, you can buy the colors in blocks at Michael's). She took a metal whistle, covered it with this clay stuff baked it and coated it with something shiny, so he has a one of a kind whistle, which has never been misplaced/lost/taken which I must say is something in our house. Doing it in team colors would be cool, or alma mater colors would also be cool.
He's also been given a t-shirt with a soccer ball on it that all the kids signed. That was great too...

I saw the cutest things at
I saw the cutest things at Walgreens the other day. They're stress reliever balls that are shaped like baseballs, footballs and soccer balls. They're soft and cushy so you can squeeze them and sit in a little stand, so they'd be perfect for someone's desk.
Thanks! I like the stress
Thanks! I like the stress reliever idea...I'm thinking an iTunes gift card, too. But first I have to find out if he has an iPod.
my husband and i are
my husband and i are wrestling coaches at the high school level. first of all you need to check andmake sure they can recieve gifts. tehy may get in trouble if the accept one. but most of the time if you do something that everyone can enjoy , it is acceptable. what the parents did for us last year is they hosted a party at one of the homes and made it a potluck. it was fun getting together as adults and without the kids., hope that helps if not ask the other coaches they probably know the other coach a little better than you do.
I know this is an older
I know this is an older post, but thought I'd share my two cents... I found this Web site that sells gift cards for golf (www.giftcardgolf.com - creative marketing department, huh?).
Anyway, I have found that this is a great gift for guys in general (my husband loves getting them) since you can give a gift certificate to the site and then they choose how to spend it.
With Arizona being the golf capital of the US (maybe world?), this is a great gift for any coach (or guy in your life).
I once saw where parents
I once saw where parents took a canvas tote bag and printed the soccer team's group picture on a iron-on transfer and then cut out little soccer balls and each girl signed her name and uniform number. It was very cute.

we always do restaurant gift certificates and depending on the sport a signed ball i.e. a softball with all the girls signatures. They love it every time.

I have to find another gift
I have to find another gift - this time for college-age women who are this season's coaches. Only half the parents gave money, so I have about $40 collected for the two. Do you guys think a $20 Harkins cards would work for each of them, or will they think we were cheap?
