This past Sunday, my husband, triplets, a girlfriend and two kids and I all headed out at 5:30 am to the Pat Tillman run in Tempe. It was nice to get out the door so early in the morning and of course by 9...the melt downs started! But before the tears began to shoot out like foundations, the kids were actually having a blast at the event! They met ASU Football players, received tons of cha-keys from the Phoenix Coyotes and other sponsors, took pictures with Sparky and learned the history of Pat Tillman and what he did for our country.
The race itself is always awesome and very sentimental. I get all choked up when I see fellow players and military running in full uniform in his honor. To have the opportunity to finish on the 42nd yardline inside Sun Devil Stadium and watch yourself on the massive Jumbotron while doing so is a memory that will last a lifetime. My whole family truly enjoys attending this run and the purpose of it is for such a wonderful cause that we will do so every year as long as we can.
If you and your family haven't attended this event, I strongly urge that you do so...it's a great opportunity to spend some quality family time and for a great cause (even though the melt downs are inevidible) :)
