The HOME WHISPERER (Gilbert Businesswoman and Author, Sharyn Jordan Hathcock), shared some great info with me last week...I thought I'd post some of her ideas (my interpretations, if you want more "Feng Shui essence" please check her out in Gilbert at 7 Streams Health Salon or get her book). She's really a joy to be around and you can learn so much. http://www.fengshuisimplified.com/
FENG SHUI YOUR SUMMER VACATION:
A vacation is time for rest, relaxation, rejuvenation and togetherness with your family or loved one. Feng Shui is the art of placement in one's environment, creating abundance, balance and flow. The process generates clarity and harmony of purpose. Learn how to make your trip the most comfortable and enjoyable experience using elements of Feng Shui.
THEME: What is the theme of your vacation? Are you going to see a new city, visit a family member, rejuvenate your spirit or get much needed R&R? Do some research ahead of time and start to plan weeks or months out with photos on your refrigerator, a vision board in the laundry room, buy books on the city or event, get an almanac to see what the weather will be like. When you plan, this helps take away the nervousness of traveling because you know what to expect or what to look for when you get there. You also help build up excitement and endorphins of having a great time and experience.
COMFORT: If you want to enjoy your vacation, bring a little piece of home with you. Bring your house slippers so every morning you slip into something familiar. Bring a photo or two of your loved ones if they won't be with you.
PACKING: If you know the weather and some destinations you want to see, pack accordingly. Its amazing how much use you get out a few items with interchangeable additions (one pair of pants, a top, a long sleeve, boots, heels, walking shoes.) When you aren't so worried about your wardrobe, you can enjoy your surroundings. Learn how to pack by rolling up clothing or compressing clothes in a bag. BLEND IN: Not only is it safer to blend in so you aren't mugged or robbed because you stand out as a tourist, but it helps you absorb the atmosphere and feeling of the place you are visiting. Soak up the culture by being a part of the community you are in. If you just go to familiar chain restaurants and do touristy things, you may leave feeling like it wasn't a vacation.
JOURNAL: At least once a day on your trip, journal. Write down what you did, an interesting person or thing you saw, etc. This helps you really hone in on your vacation and will conjour up great memories when you are back home and seeking a little "vacation" from your normal life.
YOUR OWN BACKYARD: A vacation doesn't mean an escape to different location, it's an escape of the mind to relax and unwind. If you want to save money.enjoy the benefits, deals and wonders of AZ this summer. Plus, as long as you are with the ones you love, you can enjoy your experiences by looking at familiar places in a new way. Take a long way to the Grand Canyon, hike in Sedona vs Pink Jeep, etc. Soak up the gorgeous, inspirational aspects of our beautiful state.
