So with a long weekend coming up, are you planning to travel? If so, are gas prices making you stay close to home?
Apparently the price of travel is keeping more of us home. Read more here.
I sometimes want to get away, but then again, I now have three days to catch up on life at home. (Besides my hubby, I just found out, will be working). So this upcoming three-day weekend, I'll make sure to play in the pool with the kids, invite a neighbor or two over to the house and organize my closet as I started to and never finished.

San Diego, here we come!!!!!
San Diego, here we come!!!!! We found great flights for 103.00. Well worth the money to enjoy a special vacation with family.
One Happy Mom in Arizona.
We are headed to San Diego
We are headed to San Diego as well! My oldest daughter is going to the YMCA surf camp with her Girl Scout troop then we are all headed to Seaworld. Its still cheaper for the 6 of us to drive even with the gas prices.

Our bags are packed and we are off to CA. Not San Diego though.

We typically do not travel
We typically do not travel over Memorial Weekend - just because its a crazy travel time (Thanksgiving is another time of year we refuse to travel -we stay home). I don't like to deal with the airlines, the traffic, etc. We tend to stay close to home - this year we have a birthday party to attend on that Saturday. So we will stay home, take it easy, and maybe go to the opening weekend of the city's swimming pool. That's always fun.

My whole family including
My whole family including Aunt, Uncles, Cousins, and family friends are driving out to Cali for a cousins birthday party. My aunt has it every year and we all go and have tons of fun! I cant wait.
I want to go to SD, but
I want to go to SD, but maybe later in the summer, when it's too hot here. :) And hopefully we can find a deal. Otherwise, maybe we'll vacation here and stay at a resort and pretend to be tourists here. :)

I've got a son in baseball
I've got a son in baseball and a daughter in tennis. Our plans are to be able to sit back and enjoy their games without the pressure of having to be somewhere else....
We are driving to Tucson for
We are driving to Tucson for the weekend. But we'll be driving slower. I just got an email from the Sierra Club (so I'm assuming this is true) that slowing down to 55 mph from 75 mph increases your car's gas efficiency by 30%. For every 10 mph you drive over 60, it's like you're paying 50 cents more per gallon. So, if you see a van put-putting along in the slow lane next weekend don't worry that we're having car problems - we're conserving gas.

Your post made me laugh. But you have a good point. We'll be put-putting next to you in our tahoe :)

We usually don't travel
We usually don't travel during big holiday weekends because of the crowds. This year we don't have the option because my husband will be working:( So my son and I will be spending lots of time in our pool sipping smoothies and having squirt gun fights.
We were going to drive out
We were going to drive out to Palm Springs so my hubby could play in a golf tourney with a friend. But, recent plan changes (and of course gas) have changed our minds. I offered that he was more than welcome to go still, but...he doesn't want to go without me or our son. Ahhh...
We may drive out to Sedona this week for a possible job opportunity for my husband (construction), so maybe we'll make an overnight of it.
He so desperately wants to get away. But, at least he's understanding, and knows that filling up the tank at $4+/gal is just going to kill him. At least Sedona is a write-off.
No, we will avoid the
No, we will avoid the holiday rush but we will be going to Vegas later on that week ...after the holiday rush. The gas prices are high and I researched flight prices because of it. But it's cheaper to drive then fly according to my research. So...instead of taking my husband's SUV, we will take my Accord in hopes to save a little gas.
There is no way to be a perfect mother, but a million ways to be a good one!
