My husband, son(2 1/2 yrs old), and I are taking off to San Diego on saturday morning and returning Monday evening. Saturday and Monday will be spent at Sea World, but I was wondering if any of you moms have any good tips for visiting San Diego??? It is our first time going so is there anything we should try to squeeze in?
Thanks!!!

I would recommend seeing
I would recommend seeing Balboa Park...It's where the zoo is, but you don't have to do the zoo if you're also going to Sea World.
The park has tons of museums, fountains, open areas, an artist colony (not the right word, they don't live there, but there are a lot of artist studios there). You can visit any of the museums or the zoo, but you can also just enjoy some outside time at the fountains and playgrounds.
Shawna, we are right behind
Shawna, we are right behind you! My family and I leave on Sunday and will be returning Wednesday. We are going to Seaworld too. We are following our oldest daughters girl scout troop, they are going to the YMCA surf camp Sat and Sun then Seaworld Mon and Tues for a fun five day trip.
I am so excited and I am glad you posted because I need some tips as well. I can tell you that Seaworld will be opening Elmo street or something like that on the 24th and it is aimed towards younger children with rides and shows. I also heard Balboa park is fun, my daughter's girl scout troop will be staying at the GS camp there.
I am looking for small restaurants unique to the San Diego are we can have dinner at. I am excited for you, we'll have to chat when we get back!

just be prepared for a
just be prepared for a crowd!! Holiday weekends are ALWAYS busy in San Deigo!!
Have fun!
Jennifer if you are looking
Jennifer if you are looking for a good, small restaurant in San Diego (Hillcrest to be exact) I would suggest Antico Toscano (1288 University Avenue, San Diego, CA 92103). My husband and I went there in July of 05, both the food and the service were fantastic!!!
If you're looking for something a bit more quirky or fun, check out either Hamburger Mary's or The Corvette Diner (both also in Hillcrest). At Hamburger Mary's you'll get a "show" with your meal in that the waiters dance around and sing along with the music. At The Corvette Diner, you'll get service that's similar to how Ed Debevic's used to be, but a bit more fun.
HTH!!!
It is better to be hated for what you are, than to be loved for what you are not.
Thank you yummymummy, I
Thank you yummymummy, I wrote down these places and am putting it in our San Diego folder. When we return I shall tell you where we ended up visiting :) Thanks!

That is awesome you guys are
That is awesome you guys are going too!!! I am excited to see the Elmo's play street. I think I read on the SW site they ahve 3 Elmo rides and then there is the 4-D Elmo movie on the other side of the park.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful time!!! let me know how your trip goes, and travel safely!!!
We should be right behind
We should be right behind you. We leave early Saturday morning and visiting Sea World that same day. I did research under the Sea World web site and they are having a firework display starting Saturday night. That should be excited to see!
I have heard that Coronado Beach is beautiful and has crystal sparkling sand, and we are visiting the Childrens Beach where the seals live. We are so excited to view the seals. I hope to visit the Sea Shell Shop too. I hear they have caves.
From research, I see that the Botanical Building and Lily Pond is nice at the Balboa Park. It's all amazing to see from what I"ve heard.
Enjoy!! We can't wait.
One Happy Mom in Arizona.
When we first visited San
When we first visited San Diego, we read this guide that is still up on Travel on azcentral. It's from 2006, but it hits many of the big attractions. My boys loved LegoLand and Coronado Island, and there is a Naval battleship that is being refurbished that you can take a tour of that is pretty interesting. My boys, admittedly much older than many of yours, went back with dad to fly in simulators! http://www.azcentral.com/travel/seasonal/california/articles/sandi-sight...
It looks like, once y'all
It looks like, once y'all clear out, I'll be headed to San Diego for work. Can you save me a little sand and surf?
I think you only need one
I think you only need one day in Sea World. I'd spend the other at the beach in Del Mar or at Pacific Beach. They also have the "coaster" which is the commuter train, but my kids love to ride it.
We love Pacific Coast Grill in Solana Beach and Board and Brew in Del Mar.
You must see the seals in La Jolla--your little guy will love it. The wild animal park is also really fun..

Thanks MOMs!!!!
It seems like there are a couple of us heading out tehre for the weekend. I hope you guys have fun and we will have to share stories about our trips when everyone returns!!
I read a lot about Balboa park I think we might go there too- it seems like there is a lot available to do in one place.
My son is so psyched to go see the sharks, "happy feet" and the beach. I know he will love it. My husband and I are big kids deep down inside and we will all be having fun on our trip.
I hope everyone has a good holiday weekend, and enjoy the rain our right now!!! I am hoping its not too wet and I dont fall when I walk to my car. Being pregnant this time around ahs made me pretty wobbly!
Oh, and I will check out those restaurants too. I used to love Ed Debevic's before they closed. Ir emember me and friend got on the counter and danced when we went there for her birthday. Fun times!!
