There is a Mended Little Hearts group forming in Phoenix. Mended Little Hearts is a nonprofit organization that provides hope, caring and support to families who have children with heart defects and heart disease. Families are often devastated when they learn about a diagnosis of a heart defect in their child, and Mended Little Hearts is there to let them know that they are not alone.
Most people do not realize that 9 in every 1000 babies is born with a heart defect or heart disease. Also, cardiovascular disease is the number two killer of children under the age of fifteen in the United States. (According to the American Heart Association)
