Mac Vs. PC

lovemy4's picture

I was complaining that my new PC goes into a sleep mode that can only be shaken off by totally unplugging it, waiting and re-booting. (So far MSVista is not impressing me, nor is my HP) anyway my friend is a MAC user and proceeded to tell me how great MACs are.

What do you guys think? It seems like MAC users LOVE their computer and PC users endure theirs? So, why do most people go with a PC? What do you love??

I actually have both @ home.

I actually have both @ home. A Mac and a PC. I like them both, but neither are perfect.

I think it's easier for most people to use a pc and this is what most (not all, but most) companies use.

I do like the fact that there are fewer viruses out there for the Mac.

I'd like to get a Mac for my next computer. The fewer virus thing is appealing...also I used to work on one at the office when doing the kids magazizne, and I liked it. My husband so wants one, too.

But most everything I do has been PC driven. I think the mac, for me, would be more for photos, music, design stuff. The pcs will be the kids, I suppose.

I own a mac computer. and I LOVE it. however it did take a little getting used to. because like many people, i was and have always been used to knowing how to use a pc and the programs a pc offers.

I used to have a Mac and now

I used to have a Mac and now that I have a PC I realize how much I hate Macs. There are so many things you can't do with a Mac and it drove me crazy. Most seasoned computer users would never use a Mac and laugh at those of us that do (or did). I suppose if you just want one for word processing, checking email and such then a Mac would do just fine.

Wow -- you're the first

Wow -- you're the first person I've heard who dislikes Macs. Everyone at my company is switching over to Macs -- I'm the last one holding out, waiting to see how they like them. So far they seem to be happy, once they get over the education part at first. I'd really like to hear what it was that you couldn't do with a Mac and more on why I should stick with my PC. Thanks for your input!!

most people have PCs because

most people have PCs because most software that is available is for the PC. Further, most viruses are for the PC because most people have PCs.

Apple used to restrict their operating system to only hardware made by Apple (this has changed in the last few years). So there was only 1 manufacturer of Macs, so there was no competition, so prices were higher than for the PC, which is made by lots of different companies.

I agree with the statement that techies don't like Macs. They are designed to be very easy to use, which is fine if you want to do average things, but annoyingly complicated if you want to go "freestyle". Also, I remember Macs crashing a lot and needing to threaten them with a paper clip back in my college days.

If the new microsoft operating system is not good, you can use a Linux based system. Requires a bit more know how than is needed for the Mac OS or Windows OS, but is much nicer once you get used to it.

I used a PC for many years, and switched to a Mac this year because I was tired of the whole virus thing. I like the Mac, but it definitely has limitations. Honestly? Both PCs and Macs have their plusses and minuses; I think it's a draw.
