Speaking of Miley's sexy photos

ArizonaMoms's picture

Sexy photos at 15. I just don't think a child should do that. Now, 18 is another story. You're officially an adult.

In a previous chat I posted that I think the "Vanity Fair" photos were part of a well thought out plan to help Miley move beyond her Hannah Montana character. Her parents were on the set and they could have put their foot down. What they did could be very smart marketing. Time will tell.

That said, I took time to talk to my daughter about the photos. Then, I showed her the pics on the Vanity Fair Web site.

She reacted surprised. "She shouldn't do that. She's a kid." And she is.

The Vanity Fair pictures I saw were mostly tasteful for an adult posing. (I thought the one with dad was weird, though.) For a 15 year old? Well, I think some shots were too sexy. I'm not for that - star or not. Sexualizing a kid for the sake of marketing I think gives the wrong message to everyone.

We talked on the way to school about the pictures. Julia said she'd never do that at 15. I hope she stays true to her word.

I couldn't agree with you

I couldn't agree with you more. 15 is way too young for sexy pictures - I don't care how famous the photographer or how "artistic" they are. Why do we as a society feel the need to sexualize our girls at such a young age? I'm so disappointed in Miley.

I really hope this isn't the beginning of Miley Cirus' induction into the "Disney kid goes the the dark side" club. My two girls used to love Lindsay Lohan. Now they see her life and think of her as a drugged out loser. I hear Miley's parents say that they have her well-grounded, but the recent turn of events seem to suggest not. In fact, they seem to be nudging her along to uncertainty.

sure, fine, whatever

The pictures were tacky and tasteless for a 15 yr old Disney star. What is wrong with her parents for allowing such nonsense at a young age?

I remember talking to some

ArizonaMoms's picture

I remember talking to some parents about Miley's appeal. The key was her wholesomeness. Even at her concert, she was covered up. She had cool fashion that didn't show too much skin. Everyone loved that, especially because fashion for kids has been too revealing lately.

I know she's growing up, but posing with a come hither look at 15. Yikes!

When I did a search for

MOMMAOFTHREE's picture

When I did a search for these pictures, I came across a bunch of articles with her apologizing for the pictures and the article. I just wonder if she really made a mistake or if it was just to stir up publicity? I guess we can all use it as a way to teach teenagers that people can do bad things with pictures and twist your words around no matter who you are.

Wow, did not know that her

Wow, did not know that her parents were actually on site and approved the shoot. That is bad. Just goes to show you, really, when it comes to Hollywood/movies/tv/music sales/etc. it is ALL about the money, morals be dam_ed. This is not what I want my girls to think is important in life.
