What does your bumper say?

lovemy4's picture

I really enjoy reading bumper stickers. I think it is interesting what people feel strong enough about to stick on. I know there was a discussion about the family window stickers (one figure for each member of the family), with a lot of people not liking them, but I do. I think it shows a pride in family that is nice to see. What is on your car/minivan or are you a clean-y ?? or what are some of your favorite or least favorite stickers that you've seen?

I am starting to see Presidential stickers, saw my first Mitt Romney this morning, seen a few Hillary's and one McCain, still see some W's, and some crossed out W's.

momto1lil1's picture

I don't have any, I actually think they make vehicles look cluttered. I don't mind the family stick figure ones that go on the back window, those are cute I think and show family pride. I don't mind the other ones that are on the back windows like flowers and stuff. I particularly can't stand the ones with the little boy peeing on the various things, like the different car brands, i.e Chevy, Ford, Dodge ... I think those look really trashy and doesn't say too much about the person. The political ones, well to each is own I guess, but I've never really liked those ... I like the lisence plate cover ones that say things more so than bumper stickers ... some of the ones I see are comical, others are just plain redneck and others are well I guess to each is own!!

I don't like the pee-ing

lovemy4's picture

I don't like the pee-ing ones either. I try to picture someone buying one, getting all excited..."here's the one I want, this guy peeing. I've been looking all over for this. " Sounds like something in a Jeff Foxworthy joke. But, you are right, to each their own.

The only thing I have on

Keen's picture

The only thing I have on mine is a "Support our Troops" magnet, which I would hope wouldn't offend anyone!
I have to tell you though, I did see a sticker a couple of months ago that just made me laugh out loud. It may not be everyone's idea of funny, but it is original. Here it is:
"Jesus Love You.....but everyone else thinks you're an idiot."
Sorry, I just had to share!!!

I do like the "Support Our

momto1lil1's picture

I do like the "Support Our Troops" magnets too ... they are nice ... although there are some people out there that have them cluttered all over the back of their car and it looks trashy ... I swear they have a "Support" for everything magnet on their cars!!

That is funny. Thanks for

That is funny. Thanks for sharing!

Hey, this was supposed to go after the "Jesus Loves you...but everyone else thinks you're an idiot" comment, the reply function is funky on this site.

I JUST saw one that said "Discourage Inbreeding" I think it's a topic we can all agree on. :)

I have one that says "God Bless the Whole World, no exceptions" but like Katy, I don't really like bumperstickers on MY car, so I don't know what to do with it, I just liked the sentiment.

I walk to the beat of a different drummer!.. most of you probably dont even know what that means.

" just my Opinion" LOL

I don't have one. The

myseashell's picture

I don't have one. The family ones are cute - even seen some with pets. Where to people get those anyway?

I saw one once that did make

Katy1999's picture

I saw one once that did make me crack up.....someone had the family stick figures on their back window, and it said "The As* family", and under each stick person it said a different name like "Happy","Wise","silly", and "crabby".......it was really in poor taste but even so it was hilarious...........

I think bumper stickers are

Katy1999's picture

I think bumper stickers are tacky and ruin the unspoiled look and clean lines of otherwise nice vehicles...I am meticulous about keeping my car clean, inside and out, so I don't do stickers or magnets.

Isn't that the TRUTH

momto1lil1's picture

Isn't that the TRUTH "Differentdrum" .... you certainly DO walk to the beat of a Differentdrum, kind of funny you need to let the world know in the way of a bumper sticker; seems people would be able to figure that out in much less obvious ways. And YES I'm sure more than you'd like to believe know what that means ... your words are simple enough to read between the lines!!!

Jesus is my drummer.. And no

differentdrum's picture

Jesus is my drummer.. And no I don't have a bumper sticker, but if I did, that would be it. I personally think they are tacky looking...and I am happy that I am not afraid to say what I think.. and STICK to it, too.. I'm not twofaced and my friends can take me for who I am, I don't wishy wash or put on a facade .. Alot of people, like yourself perhaps, only really want to hear what you think and don't really mean it when you ask someone else's opinion....

" just my Opinion" LOL

I saw a Barak Obama sticker

Memoriesfaded's picture

I saw a Barak Obama sticker yesterday. thats the only one that sticks out in my mind. oh! and there is a care in my nieborhood thats old and rusty, probably not driven anymore, and it has BUSH LIES! spray painted on it. and tons of other political stickers everywhere. ( not just the bumper) I kinda like it.

Differentdrum why don't you

momto1lil1's picture

Differentdrum why don't you go troll another board, because no one really cares for your inconsiderate and rude comebacks here .... maybe you should pray that the Lord will give you the ability to consider other's feelings and opinions and also the ability to not blast everyone else for theirs!!!

I agree that Differentdrum's

Keen's picture

I agree that Differentdrum's comments and latest posts have taken a specific religious tone, and I don't think that any of us are here to discuss those personal issues.

Even so - she should be free

Katy1999's picture

Even so - she should be free to express her opinion - whether people are "offended" by the religious tone or not. I for one, am not.
If you don't want to discuss such issues, then you have the option to scroll on by, right?
I have a feeling that if the religious tone she expressed were anything but Christian, no one would dare oppose as they would be too afraid of being seen as politically incorrect.

I am defintely not

Keen's picture

I am defintely not "offended" by her religious insights, I just find that Differentdrum seems to stir up a lot of emotions in people, including yourself. I thought this might have to do with the religious content of her posts, which is why I commented. It's a good thing to get people passionate about something, but I'm also not interested in this being a place for women to argue constantly. I thought this site was for moms to "get connected" by helping each other out by sharing advice and ideas, not sniping at each other.

I don't always agree with

Katy1999's picture

I don't always agree with Differentdrum....we have clashed on many subjects......sometimes I think she's out in left field.....and she has made me really mad a few times..........but I do appreciate her brutal honesty. When I come to a discussion board, I am looking for discussion, and not just total agreement and sunshine. I am curious about what people really think - not just what they feel is going to make everyone happy. Even when what I read makes me angry, if it also makes me think, then it's good.
It is hard for me to trust people who sugarcoat everything. Women do that a lot.......and it always leaves me with the feeling that I'm being snowed. Some of the women who post here seem like they live in ivory towers and wear a tiara all day long. I can't relate to that. I am a little rough around the edges myself, so I suppose I don't mind DD so much. It livens things up a bit.

I agree everyone has a right

momto1lil1's picture

I agree everyone has a right to express their opinions and to be passionate about what ever they wish, however there is a tactful and considerate way of doing it and an inconsiderate and tacky way of doing it; unfortunately she's chosen the latter of the 2 and not just regarding this specific subject. Please tell me you can differentiate between being genuine and passionate about something versus her uncanniness and sometimes obvious insults towards people.

no matter how I put it, it

differentdrum's picture

no matter how I put it, it will be the latter of the 2... Not to many ppl are willing to stand up for what they believe..

" just my Opinion" LOL

I'm pretty sure that's what

Keen's picture

I'm pretty sure that's what we're doing here Differentdrum, otherwise, you wouldn't get any kind of response.

It's easy for people to say

differentdrum's picture

It's easy for people to say one thing in the virtual world, because most likely you won't see these mom face to face.. but in reality, and face to face, person to person, alot of ppl hide and won't say what they believe, because their either afraid they will lose friends or the person wont like them or they just don't have a backbone to stand up for themselves or what they believe...I like to say what I believe and if you or anyone reads it, hopefully it will give you something to think about and then you will be stronger in whatever it is that YOU believe to be right.. I know what I believe.. ppl are just so wishy washy now days.. they have no stance on anything

" just my Opinion" LOL

I think this is just a

Keen's picture

I think this is just a convenient way for you to get on your soapbox Differentdrum. Don't make assumptions about the other women in this forum, because as you said, it's a "virtual" world here, not real life interaction.

One silly one bumpersticker

lovemy4's picture

One silly one bumpersticker that made me laugh today, was that cartoon rabbit, sitting on the toilet and the bi-line was "I just made a little statue of you."

I don't know why I think that is funny... but, I do...

My current bumper sticker

Ms.M's picture

My current bumper sticker says "Bush - Cheney -- No Child Left A Dime". -- Need I explain?
I can't express my dislike for that administration enough. I like reading them too. Gives me something to look at and ponder while in traffic. Unfortunately, no many people put them on their cars these days. Too much political correctness or what?

Ms. M

During the election seems

lovemy4's picture

During the election seems every other car had a W sticker, now yours or the numerous other issues people have trouble with this administration about are more common. I did see a "Thank you President Bush" bumper sticker and wish I could have asked for what? Not to be a jerk, but because I REALLY wonder what? What have I missed??

That bumper sticker HAD to be sarcasm. Otherwise I have no idea who would thank him for what. But then, there are alot of crazy people in the world.

"Co-Exist" is the best

soccermom's picture

"Co-Exist" is the best bumper sticker I've seen. It has symbols from different cultures and religions. If we could co-exist peacefully....what a better world this would be.
