I have been reading many of your posts and am reminded of myself as a yong kid. I was dealing with so many things, as I am sure all of us were. Looking back, I wish that I has some outlet for healthy self expression.
I have recently started teaching for Casa: center for prevention of violence. We go to schools and meetings all over the valley and talk about issues like sexual harassment, sexual abuse, body safety, and healthy relationships. I find myself looking at this young kids and wondering how it is possible that 6th graders are asking me about condoms and 8th graders are wondering if they should have sex with their boyfriends. I cannot fathom having these kinds of issues on my plate at that age.
So when my boss showed me the summer camp that Casa provides for pre-teens and teens, I was amazed. The summer camp focuses on teaching youth to figure out who they are and then figure out how they want to relate to others. I would highly suggest, to those of you who are noticing your kids have roblems with these issues, to look into this camp.
