Car Seat troubles

Teraysa's picture

I'm having a terrible time installing my daughter's convertable car seat. I've called the local fire stations for help but it seems like I just keep getting the runaround. I live in far west Phoenix bordering Avondale, Glendale, Litchfield Park, etc. So when I call Phoenix FD they tell me I should call Avondale, Avondale says I should call Glendale, etc. I'm enormously frustrated and really don't know what to do. Any ideas?

Tell us everything you can

Tell us everything you can about the seat (make, model, yada, yada, yada) and your vehicle. I bet that, with all the smart women here, we can get you the instructions you need.

Bless you for insisting on good information. Depending on how much time and energy you want to invest, you may consider calling those folks back, and documenting their responses. The police and fire departments work for you, and it's not acceptable for them to decline to assist you in response to a reasonable request. Since it's not just bad parenting, but also a moving violation, to transport children without proper safety restraints, car seats, etc., they can't refuse to help you within a reasonable amount of time.

Don't let the jerks get you down. Bless you and your little girl.

Try going to

Try going to http://www.cirs.org/ and search for carseat inspections. I know sometimes the news has carseat inspection days (channel 12 just had one a few weekends ago), so you may be able to see if they have resources for you as well.

It's tough as not all fire stations have certified carseat techs on staff, but I *know* there are plenty in the valley - you just have to find one!

This is off the city of Glendale's website:

How can I get my car seat installed?
You can schedule an appointment to have your car seat installed by a trained Car Seat Installation Technician by calling (623) 930-SEAT (7328).

Glendale fire departments have installed several of mine and do an excellent job with installing and teaching you how to do it.

Try this website: car-safety.org
It has a lot good info & there are knowledgeable techs in the forums. They should also be able to help you find someone locally to install your seats. Good for you for keeping your kids safe.

Thank you all for your ideas
