My two-year-old son just got over the flu. I could barely get him to drink liquids - all he wanted was his milk, which he couldn't have obviously. I tried water, water mixed with a little juice and pedialyte (sp). He didn't want any of that.
Suggestions for the next time around?

Popsicles!! Try making
Popsicles!! Try making popsicles out of gatorade or watered down oj. My kids always loved those. They're especially good when your child has gastrointestinal issues and can't drink anything in too big a quantity.
You can always try watermelon, grapes or any fruit that is juicy.
Then there's bribery! Make him a deal...have him drink 2 ounces of water and then give him some milk. Make it chocolate milk...there's a perfect balance of carbs to proteins that helps keep your child nourished.
Popsicles! Great idea - wish
Popsicles! Great idea - wish I would have thought of that.
Thanks.

Hot Jello. Mix as you would
Hot Jello. Mix as you would for making chilled Jello, 1 cup hot and 1 cup cold water or unflavored Pedialyte. Test the temperature to make sure it's not too warm, and serve liquid in his favorite cup. It's soothing to the throat and the stomach, and most kids will be thrilled at getting special Jello to drink. My mother swore by it for coughs, colds, and upset stomachs - I still drink it myself if I've got a stomach bug. And as a bonus, if he doesn't want to drink it, it makes great popsicles.
Out of curiousity, why wasn't he able to have milk when he had the flu? Warm milk with a bit of honey is usually pretty good for sick and unhappy kidlets, unless they're having really bad upset tummies.
We just had a weekend round
We just had a weekend round of the flu here - my 7 mo old, myself and my hubby all ended up with it. It's been fun, to say the least. Our Dr. said no milk/diary products (breast milk excluded for our 7 mo old) for a week because diary is hard for your system to digest. Macy didn't like pedialite either, though we gave it to her in a bottle in her sleep and she drank all of it....
