Does anyone have any suggestions for a good Gilbert day care? I am about to have my first child and I don't even know what to look for in a day care.

Both of my children went to
Both of my children went to The Learning Curve at McQueen and Elliott. My youngest is still enrolled there. The only complaint I have is that they have high staff turnover; however, I understand that is common among daycares everywhere. It makes sense - the teachers don't get paid much! I suggest calling them to tour the facility - 545-4852. Whatever daycares you look at, I recommend touring the facility, meeting with the teacher(s), and talking to the administrators. Some of the questions I asked when I toured facilities was what their staff to child ratio is, what their discipline philosophy is, how much time they spend outside, and, the thing that was most important to me, how safe the facility seems to me. I was lucky that I knew enough moms in my neighborhood that I knew what places to stay away from - I heard some horror stories! Good luck with your decision!
I am also looking for a
I am also looking for a daycare in Gilbert and thank you for suggesting the Learning Curve. Is it possible to tell us which ones not to go to? I don't want to bash anyone's business or anything, but I also don't want to put my child in a place that everyone knows is bad. Thank you!
My two girls went to Mini
My two girls went to Mini Skool on Lindsey and Williams Field and I have a complaint with CPS and the Board of Directors after my 3 year old told me she was swung by one arm into the wall and had the marks all over her back to prove it by a teacher. Conveniently there were no videos available from that day. I would suggest steering clear from that school. Too bad though because some of the teachers there are amazing. Obviously one....not so much.
My sons child care is not in
My sons child care is not in Gilbert, but close. Valley Child Care and Learning Center on Ray and 101 is great. I've had 3 friends move thier childern there in the past 3 months. I would too strongly recommend looking soon and "interviewing" the child care. My son is now 16 months and have been extreamly happy with VCCLC.
My sons have gone to the
My sons have gone to the East Valley Jewish Community Center in Chandler (Ray and Alma School) for years and it's wonderful. It's the worth the drive to check out - if you're on the east edge of Gilbert it wouldn't be that far. Very reasonable price, flexible hours, nice staff, etc. It's a Jewish school/daycare but is open to everyone.
Susie is a discussion leader in the east valley for arizonamoms.com. She has two sons, ages 7 and 3.
I worked in the daycare
I worked in the daycare industry throughout highschool and college until I got my degree and moved on. I swore, at that time, I would never put my children in daycare. 2 years ago my daughter was born and I wanted to continue working, PT after she arrived - but finding a good daycare in the east valley was IMPOSSIBLE, by my standards. I toured them all- Mini Skool and TLC being at the top of my lists, only to find that both places has some extremely red flags for me.
I had honestly reassigned to the fact that I would just need to quit my job, when I found the Goddard School on Lindsay and Warner in Gilbert. They just opened in Oct 2007 and my very shy daughter, who was deathly afraid of other children and did HORRIBLY in other popular "child care centers", has grown and developed tremendously in the 3 months we have had her there.
All of their Lead Teachers have a Bachelor's Degree and they Asst's are all working on some sort of degree. The owner is onsite daily and the center is operated by a seperate Director. I love this concept, because there is always someone there to discuss with. Any concern I have had has been addressed and changes were immediately put into action. They run lower than state ratios and have an awesome curriculum. My daughters speech has sky rocketed and she can't wait to go back to "school" each day.
This place has been a total blessing for us. I never thought I would find one that would be "good enough" for me. And I have(it took me 2 years to do it)! Very impressed with this place.
You will pay a little bit extra but it is worth every penny to us to know we have her in the best possible care and that she is HAPPY.
I was also extremely
I was also extremely impressed with the Goddard School, however, being a single mom with no child support I could not afford it. I would definitley recommend that school over all others I considered taking my children to in Gilbert. It is so important to see that they are happy like that! Good job mom on finding a good one that works for you! I now have them in one next to my work in Scottsdale, and the fact that they don't want to leave when I pick them up even though it stings a little, makes me very comfortable in knowing they are in such good hands:)
My sister works in
My sister works in Scottsdale at Pima and the 101 and is looking for childcare for her kids. I was wondering if that is close to where you send yours and if so, can we get the name of it? Thank you!
How about KinderCare on
How about KinderCare on Gilbert Rd. between Elliot and Warner? Like most concerned parents, we have been REALLY scared to put our daughter (1 years old) into daycare. We are planning on only doing part-time and are looking into this specific KinderCare since it is only a mile from our home. Does anyone know anything about this one? Thank you to the mom who posted the original question, as I have been wanting to post the same thing! =)
