My little guy is recovering from a 24 hr Tummy bug he had. He was throwing up non-stop. I was literally up to my elbows in it (as well as all the laundry it stirred up). Anyways, he is doing a lot better except he hasn't gone # 2 in three days. He tries..he makes the grunting noises and his little face turns beet red, but nada...nothing. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to help ease things along for him. I hate to see him strain so much to go.

Water ... water ...water ...
Water ... water ...water ... or some prune juice or grape juice. They do have baby suppositories (pediatric size) for babies that you could try as well ... I remember having to use them with my daughter when she was a baby and was having a hard time!! Unfortunatley, you'll probably have to hold them in place otherwise it will most likely pop right back out. After you are sure it's staying in move his legs around like up and down towards his tummy. Also, you can try a teaspoon of Karo syrup in water and that's suppose to work as well. Good luck .... poor lil guy :-(
While everyone already
While everyone already answered that I would answer...I had to chuckle on this one - baby suppositories. Don't get me wrong - they do work wonders!!! When Kelly was 6 months old - after a bad bout of diarrhea, I put one in - my first time experience - my hubby hollered across the room, warning me to prepare for a messy diaper in about 10 mins....well, at that instance, before I was able to put the diaper back on, her pebbles were shooting out at least 100 mph, hitting the closet door mirror, scared the living daylights out of me...I had thought it was a gun going off somewhere.....after that, Kelly just smiled and started giggling.....

My son had bouts of constipation at 3-6months. The Karo syrup (dark) worked wonders and was really easy on his system.
I would say a 10 month old who probably got a little dehydrated from his tummy bug NEEDS that extra water. Not too much, but a little more than normal. That might help to loosen his stool.
My son's poops have become much more regular/soft now that he eats more table food, but whenever I notice an "off" poopage, I return right away to the good old standby....stage 2 PRUNES! Usually within a few hours, he drops the motherload!
Good luck!
Poor baby! When my little
Poor baby! When my little ones had trouble, I would give them prune juice - just a few ounces, or a tablespoon of dark Karo syrup on their bottles. That really seemed to work. If that doesn't do the trick, they make glycerin suppositories for infants, or there is a product called Colace (they come in infant drops) that is a stool softener - not a laxative - that can help your baby go easier.
Good luck - if he doesn't go soon you really should call his MD. :)
Thanks a bunch! Can I get
Thanks a bunch! Can I get the Karo syrup at a regular grocery store?

Yes. You can get the Karo
Yes. You can get the Karo by the baking goods. It's just corn syrup. Make sure you get the dark.
Definately keep him
Definately keep him hydrated... but the mom who posted regarding the Kayro Syrup hit the nail on the head.... Don't go over-board on the syrup tho... if he takes a 8oz bottle of water, only put in about a tablespoon of the syrup... make it warm water to mix up the syrup too!!!
Don't feed your 10 month old cherries.... he could choke!!
Also because he has recently had a tummy bug... giving him Pedialyte or the Walmart version (has same ingrediants) would be a plus as well!!! IF you don't see any results... within the next 24 hours... CALL YOUR DR.!!!
I'm a nurse... babies can get too sick too fast...don't let it slide!!!
u could also try alittle
u could also try alittle warm natural decaffinated chamoile tea with the kayro syrup
When my 8 1/2-month old got
When my 8 1/2-month old got constipated, we used Karo syrup. But not too much, or they could get the runs. Yes, definately Pedialyte as well.

Ahh poor baby, when my daughter had that problem, I would give her plenty of Apple juice and Karo Syrup. It worked wonders for her.

We had a similar situation
We had a similar situation in our daughter and the pediatrician recommended a teaspoon of mineral oil twice a day. Everything slipped right through. No sugar, no habit forming and completely safe. Her virus actually put her in the hospital for dehydration - so do keep up the water. Best of luck!
