Twice The Fun!

destryTV's picture

I am now a mom of two! I called this blog twice the fun, but really I'm still getting used to it.
My baby ,Blythe, is 5 months old and my son ,Hayden, is 2 and a half.
The hardest part is jealousy!
My son was and is the apple of my eye. He does not want to share my attention at all. The first few months were difficult. I couldn't even turn my head without him giving her a little poke! I swear her first words are going to be "help me!"!!!
He is slowly doing better. I always make sure we have alone time together. I also praise him whenever he does something sweet for her. He helps get diapers now too. It's not perfect, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.
On the positive side, he makes her crack up! She loves watching him dance, read, sing - anything! The other day I was alone with Blythe and I hardly knew what to do. He wasn't there to entertain her. It really is twice the fun when we're all together.

If you have any other tips, let me know! I have a feeling this will be a struggle for a long time!

Welcome back to the moms

Welcome back to the moms chats!

The jealousy will never disappear. And one day your little girl will be complaining/acting out against her brother, too.

I think you just do your best to give each of them undivided quality time. And know that neither will be completely satisfied, but that you did your best.

I take my daughter out for girlie things because she sometimes thinks I love my son more...this was especially true after his kidney surgery in the summer. And I take my son out for ice cream or just play video games with him so that he doesn't feel left out, too.

Giving your son some responsibility is definitely a good thing, but also make sure you give him a little special time - just the two of you.
