It's that time of year when schools send home forms asking if you plan on coming back. It's also that time of year that parents start shopping for schools for a variety of reasons. Arizona has some pretty liberal school choice laws.

I've thought about it, but frankly don't feel like I have the time to thoroughly search for another.
We did do some homework before we moved into our neighborhood....loved how well the school we were supposed to go to did in standardized tests, but by the time our kids got to school, the boundaries changed.
We ended up changing again when a new school was built. Luckily, it seems to do well, at least according to test scores. So far, I've liked most of the teachers - some went beyond my expectations in pushing my kids; others, well, the world isn't perfect. I think one was too distracted by her wedding/new baby so communication was tough and another I think just didn't seem to be passionate about teaching or just didn't like my kid - don't know.
I'm mostly satisfied with the school, and it's in the neighborhood, so I'm staying there.

If you are looking for a K-8th grade school in Peoria, Redwood Academy ( K-8th grade) just moved to 6810 W Thunderbird Ave (between 67th Ave and 75th Ave). Redwood isn't a new school, they've been around for the past nine years and are rated a Performing + School (highest rating) by the Az Dept Education.
Although they are getting a new building they will keep their small school, family feel environment with small classes with LOW Teacher - Student Ratio. They also offer all day Kindergarten, tutoring programs, accelerated class, free transportation, after school programs and if you have a Deaf child all their Teachers in the Deaf Department teach using both ASL and English.
