Since we have been talking about teacher appreciation day so much recently, I wanted to share something with you all. Today my first grader comes home with a goody bag filled with fun stuff. It was not a skimpy goodie bag, there was several notebooks, pencils, stickers, candies, erasers and more. All cute little character stuff too. My daughter was thrilled and immediately started passing items out to her sisters when we got in the truck. At first I asked her where she got all the stuff, as she continued to pull goodies out of the white lunch type sack with her name on it. She tells me her teacher. I was surprised. There was a lot of goodies in there. Anissa proceeded to tell me that her teacher brought in goodie bags for teacher appreciation day/week because her teacher appreciates her and the other students and how good and sweet they are. This is why I wanted to do something for her this week. A note, a donated book to the library, some supplies for next year. I am so lucky that my kids have teachers that care about them so much.

Wow! What a wonderful teacher! She sounds very kind and like somebody who really enjoys teaching. How refreshing!
I like the idea of a note and (separately) a book donated in her name to the library - particularly since she sounds like the kind of person who would appreciate such recognition (i.e., something that would continue to give back rather than just stop with her).
Thank you for sharing such a lovely story. I must be sure to do something for our kids' teachers this week as well!

That is a great teacher indeed!
What a wonderful way not only to let the kids know that they are valued, but to help foster a love of school and learning!
As for teacher appreciation day, I told my son, "the best gift I can think of to give your teacher that she would REALLY LOVE is to let you stay home for the day!"

I always make sure to let a teacher know how much I appreciate them whether it be appreciation day or not! As a mom of 4 kids from 8-20, I have had some TERRIBLE experiences with teachers over the years, so when a good (or great) one comes along, I let them know how much it is appreciated!!
What a nice story! I really
What a nice story! I really liked that your daughter had no reservations to share her goodies with her siblings, sounds like a wonderful young lady.
