how many west valley homeschoolers?

happy2bjustmommy's picture

I have been homeschooling for about 2 years now. My oldest daughter went to public school for 4 months, when i decided that was the wrong place for her. and us. I have loved having the kids home. This coming year I will be homeschooling 3rd grade, 1st grade and preschool. The preschool is a co-op with a few people from church, so that will be an adventure trying to homeschool my kids, and teacha few other kids a couple time s a month.
I live in the west valley and i have 3 girls. I would love to get to know other moms in this area, that maybe have kids my girls age, so we can get together and play, and meet. I just never seem to run into any homeschooled kids ever.

Anyway, that is me... Nice to (hopefully) meet you!

Hello! Have you checked out

Hello! Have you checked out any homeschool support groups? Off the top of my head, I know there are two groups in Surprise (Home Educators of Surprise, meets Mondays at 9am Sept-May... and another I don't know the name of) that meet at the big park on Bullard. There is also Westside Home Educators - they meet Wednesdays (Sept-May) at noon at Sweetwater park (75th Ave and Sweetwater). There are other groups in Litchfield, Avondale and Goodyear, but those are too far from me.

Will you be attending the AFHE conference in downtown Phoenix next weekend? If you go, be sure to ask at the entrance tables for the location of the support group info - a lot of the valley's groups at least have pictures and a poster there so that new homeschoolers can find some support.

In answer to your question, we are in the west valley... but I've got boys of homeschooling age. :) My daughter is a wee bit young, lol, at 1yo for anything formal. We've homeschooled for 7 years with a brief stint in public school - we're homeschooling for the long haul. :)

I live in the North West

I live in the North West Valley near I-17 and Happy Valley and am a homeschooling mom of 2 girls ages 5 and 3 1/2. We are looking for friends to have play dates with too.

Christ's Church of the Valley has a home school group. You can get the information on the churches website. Home Educators of Surprise is an ok group. I participated with them from August to January of last year but the drive was too far for me. Their group is fairly large and there are a lot of kids. They have a yahoo group but I do not believe they have a website.

Hope this helps.
