I heard this advertisement on the radio yesturday and then again today.
The dad is talking about the schools gross lunch and the daughter is saying well I don't need to eat their lunch because I can do high school online.
Has anyone else hear of this?
I have mix feeling about this, online high school.
First, I feel as long as your getting your education...then go for it.But I don't feel you should go this route because you don't like the school's lunch.
Second, I don't think highschool is all about books...I feel it is good for a social well being....activities...teachers....etc..
Sure, I feel the online school can benefit those who have behavior or mental problems...this may help them further their education...when maybe they would just drop out...or even help out teen moms...
What are your thoughts?

The online program may be
The online program may be legit; HOWEVER, I'd be more concerned about why my child doesn't want to go to school like a normal student. They're probably thinking, "Cool, I won't have to get up early now. I can just get online whenever I feel like it".. blah, blah, blah Doesn't fly with me. Part of growing up is taking RESPONSIBILITY and getting yourself up out of bed each morning and facing the day doing the things that you don't necessarily want to do, but HAVE to do because they are your responsibilities and that's part of life. And one of those things is going to school. Just like there will come a time when they're going to be on their own and they'll have to get up each day and go to work like a normal person.
Also, I feel like my high school years were some of the best years of my life..being around friends, doing the normal things that go along with being in high school, (prom, school sports, homecoming, etc, etc). Why would you not want to be a part of that?
Just my opinion......which is worth exactly what you paid me for it. :-)
Mom to 12 year old Ryan who does nothing but eat, sleep and ride motocross....which is a whole other can of worms to open!!
I agree high school...Oh,
I agree high school...Oh, the memories!
I think it is important to go to high school.
I also think the online program is good for those children who really need it.
I just really didn't like the advertisment. The school lunch is gross...so here go to a on line school.
That isn't a message I think children should hear.I do however think it is a message a parent should here if their child is on the verge of failing and has been for a while. It is nice to have a choice....when a choice is what you may reallly need...but not a easy way out.....
My High School years were
My High School years were great too, but will our kids really have the same experiences we did?
When I was in HS (in the '80's) we didn't have to walk through metal detectors just to get in the building, we weren't worried that the kid sitting next to us might be writing a 'hit list' of people to kill, nobody took embarrassing pictures of us changing for gym then sent them around school or posted them in some public forum, no one was handing us condoms and treating us like dogs in heat who just could not control our hormonal urges, teachers didn't give us good grades just to move us on the next level --- only to leave us tragically unprepared for college or to enter the workforce, girls didn't dress like pole dancers and boys like homeless people, and parents weren't constantly threatening to sue schools and teachers over every petty little thing --- forcing the schools to have an 'anything goes' policy and a free-for-all environment.
So I don't know if 'home high schooling' is a good idea or not, but I DO get why some would prefer it!
High school is hell for some
High school is hell for some kids. The social pressure is unlike anything we ever encountered. On line school could be a good way to get your kids away from the hell high school can be so they can focus on their education. If your kid is not the athlete, or the brain, the fox or the hunk they may have a hard time finding their niche. In a perfect world the kids should be able to deal with the pressure and it would make them stronger but this is not a perfect world. On line school may be better then having to face hell and humiliation every day.
