Southeast Suggestions

smccammond's picture

I just recently went to the "preschool fair" in Tempe. I am still no closer to finding a preschool for my son. Although I did find what I was looking for in a preschool.

- Christian based
- Montessori's
- Full days
- no more than 3 days a week
- within 15-20min of home

I live in Southeast Chandler, most Gilbert stuff is closer than Chandler. Any Ideas?

We have had our 2 girls at

We have had our 2 girls at Tempe Christian for the past 3 years and we love it. Good, solid people there. We live at Cooper and Ocotillo and it is about 25 minutes in traffic.

I recommed Bethany Learning

I recommed Bethany Learning Center - part of Bethany Community church....it's at Price/Guadelupe...right off of the 101....with the 202/101 freeway connection, it's within 20 minutes of the southeast valley. My son went there and we absolutely loved them. They have different options for 2, 3, or 5 days a week, they do offer full days from 7am to 6pm....and they have a really good program and very wonderful teachers.

I've not used them...but I

I've not used them...but I have attended this church. Chandler Christian has a preschool program. They are off the Santan freeway and Alma School.

Bethany Learning Center,

Bethany Learning Center, like Katy said. My daughter went there and had the best experience.. by Kindergarten she was reading, sounding out words, they taught Phonics back then, It wasnt "just look at the pictures". she's in 6th now.. The public school taught and some still teach Whole Language, and I can see a Very Big difference in both of my kids reading and spelling. My older one (18) was taught phonics in a Christian preschool and then when we moved here from Tahoe, and she was in K in the Kyrene district, they teach Whole Language, her reading and spelling was bad with this.. My 6th grader went to BL and then to Bethany Christian for a few years, and now she is in public and she is alot better reader than the students that were taught whole language. Plus, she is able to make very GOOD choices, when she is confronted with the bad choices, Ya, it starts at home, but being in a school that dealt with the everyday issues with students and then holding them accountable and teaching forgiveness, she has been able to take this and live it in her public school experience and I am very proud of both of my girls..

" just my Opinion"

There's also Tri-City

There's also Tri-City Christian and Heritage, and Az Community Church has a preschool, they are at Rural just north of Ray Rd.

Thank you so much, I will

Thank you so much, I will look into all of those preschools! I know I have looked into Chandler Christian and I do like it, but I wanted to make sure that I had looked at all of my options.

Hugs,
Sommer

They don't offer full days,

They don't offer full days, but Light of Christ Preschool in Chandler is great. My daughter went there this year, and we LOVE the teachers.

There is a sense of community as well between the moms. Sadly, one of the boys in my daughter's class passed away unexpectedly, and the moms brought food to the hospital/house for 2 weeks and planned a luncheon for after the funeral services. The teachers and the church's pastor were always checking on us to make sure we were doing ok.

When I first registered my daughter, I was worried about it being "preachy" since it is a Lutheran preschool. They talk about Jesus, but there is no pressure to join the church (like I've seen from other church's preschools).

My daughter has learned a lot of new information as well. One day, she came home and told me all about the days of the week (and signed them in ASL). Another day, she taught her younger sister how to count to ten in Spanish.

I would recommend Light of Christ Preschool without any reservations.
