Bed Time Books

What are some books you read to your child at night? After bath time my daughter and I curl up in her bed and read a story before she goes to sleep. (So much more comfortable now since she has a full size bed instead of a toddler mattress!) Now we're running out of stories! We need to go out and get some new books! Any suggestions? She will be 3 in October, and she loves pretty much everything.

We have a couple books that have multiple stories in them-and they are either 3min or 5min reads. My son is still pretty young (15mo), so he doesn't stay still for the whole time...but there are some great stories.
One of the books is called '3-minute Bedtime stories', and the other is in my son's room but he's napping. The 3min book has a website- www.pilbooks.com
I like them because I don't have a ton of books lying around, but I have options for different stories (especially down the road).

If your daughter is good

If your daughter is good with sitting still for more than a board book, try Pinkalicious. It is such a cute story about a little girl who loves pink. I bought it for my son(well, for me) and he loves it too. He is also really into Where the Wild Things Are, The Dinosaur Encyclopedia and Wild About Books.

That book sounds like my daughter, she loves pink. I will have to try that one. We have been reading the same book for about a month it is called HUMU. It is about fish who wished away his colors. I have a friend who lives in Hawaii and my daughters love this book. It is the only 1 they want to read right now.

We also read every night

We also read every night before bed. Though my son is almost 4, some of his favorites were/continue to be: "Good Night Moon", "Runaway Bunny", and many of the Sandra Boynton (sp?) books ("Snuggle Puppy" is his favorite!). He also likes several of the Baby Einstein books, and a recent favorite is about the old lady who swallowed a fly.

He also goes in spurts with books from the "behavior" series: "Hands are not for Hitting", "Tails are not for Pulling", and "Feet are not for Kicking".

We've got dozens upon dozens of books, including a collection of Dr. Seuss and a collection of Little Golden stories, but he doesn't seem to have much interest in them!

Sandra Boynton board books

Sandra Boynton board books have been a huge hit in our house for the little ones at bedtime. They are all a crack up. We also love Eric Carle books and you can get a lot of them in board book versions if you want.

We like the "If you give a mouse a cookie", "a moose a muffin", etc books.

Yesterday, we went to Goodwill and bought a bunch of books. For 99 cents, you can't go wrong and a lot of the books looked brand new.

I bought this book call 5 minute bedtime stories. My son loves it we still read it. Also join a childrens book club, that way you and your daughter can pick out books together. I do that with my son and we have a blast, also take her to the libary and let her go crazy picking out books. I make several trips a week, we check out at least 100 books a week. My little one just loves to be read too.

Have fun, this is the time for them to grasp everything and they will fall in love with reading if you make it fun for them.

I run a small home business on the side it works kind of "tupperware" style where people host home shows.
I would love to help anyone that needs books host one. You will get some amazing free books just for hosting - and help your friends and family get excellent children's books. Of course the best benefit is helping children to develop a life long love of learning. You can reply to the post or check out my website at www.childrensbookhouse.com
You can even sign up to work from home and do it too! My email address is info@childrensbookhouse.com

Some of Ava's faves are The farmyard collection, How big is a Million, and There's a mouse in the house.
