This sounded interesting...a "survivor" day for families affected by cancer.

The event is put on by the Wellness Community.

From their release:
Adults will enjoy a lively drum circle led by Frank Thompson of AZ Rhythm Connection and a comedy performance showcasing the lighter side of survival by stand-up comedienne and breast cancer survivor Lisa Heaney.

Educational entertainer Connie Galeener will offer a medley of fun activities for kids of all ages. There will also be a clown, juggler, face painter and Beads of Courage to make bracelets. Lunch will be provided for all.

WHEN/WHERE:
Saturday, June 7, 10 am – 1 pm. Free. On the grounds of The Wellness Community, 360 E. Palm Lane near downtown Phoenix. RSVP requested.

The Wellness Community, 602-712-1006 or www.twccaz.org.

Arizona Moms Editor Yvette Armendariz shares stories about raising her kids and tips for busy parents in her Time-starved (goddess) Mom blog. She and her husband are raising two children, ages 8 and 11.

EVERYTHING that The Wellness Community (TWC) does is ALWAYS free of charge. Whether it is educational seminars, yoga classes and movement therapy, cooking classes...always at no cost.

Remember, a person becomes a cancer survivor the day that they are diagnosed. Because from then on, they are surviving. You don't have to wait until after chemo/radiation, etc. to "become" a survivor. :)
