Parents and kids are encouraged to come in their PJs.

And $5 tickets if your name is "Alexander," "Alex," Alexis," "Alejandro" or any derivative thereof. This was reason enough for me to take our son to his first play. At 4 years old, I wasn't sure how he would do. It was a little hard to explain the concept of a play since he hadn't been exposed to one before but he really enjoyed it. At intermission, he said he wanted to go home but I told him we should go back to find out what happened in the story. Once we sat back down, he got into it again.
If you have a small child, you can request a cushion at the coat check (you'll need to leave your license with the clerk). The Tempe Center for the Arts is a wonderful new venue and afterwards we walked around the grounds since it's right by the lake.
