Ben 10

Wondering if anyone is a Ben 10 fan - my six year old son wants to start watching it but I don't have a clue about the show. I can't tell from what I've read on line if it's age appropriate.

Optimist put up a post about this a while ago, her kids watch it. She explained to me what it is about, you should search out that post. My son isn't into it, but it doesn't sound like there is anything inappropriate about it for a six year old.

It depends on your kid...The hero is righteous and always wins in the end...good defeats evil...but, Ben and his cousin are always bickering (she's a girl and Ben often embarrasses her). On occassion, one of the characters/aliens will say "jerk" or "idiot". I don't like this and tell my kids so. My oldest is 8 and he has a keen sense of justice and right vs wrong. He is actually bothered by the occassional "bad" word and reminds his brother constantly, not to say those things. His brother complies.

However, they have just introduced a new show, Ben 10 Alien Force, I think where the kids are teens. We haven't watched that one much, because I don't know what the teens are saying.

...okay, scatch that. I just called my son in to the room and asked him about it. He said that as teens, Ben and Gwen now like each other. He said Ben was clapping for Gwen at her Karate match and told others that she was his favorite cousin, then Gwen hugged him. Ahhh!

He did say that their old enemy, Kevin 11, was now working with them. But, the villians might still be rude. But, if they are, they are the clearly seen as wrong and the bad guys.

I know that my guys play really well together when playing Ben 10. They morph intto different aliens and run through the house defeating villians together.

It's apparently, hugely popular, as I started selling pretty cool, custom Ben 10 birthday invitations and I can't keep up with demand! All of the kids in school collect the action figures and have memorized every trait about them and their home planets!

My 4 year old likes it...but

My 4 year old likes it...but I'm a bit more lenient than many parents I think.

His passion is Transformers, and this is not a favorite, but he watches occasionally, and I've never stopped him (especially if I'm trying to get something done!)

Thanks all - I'm not crazy

Thanks all - I'm not crazy about shows with language like "jerk'' or "idiot'' especially when I'm trying to teach my son that name calling is a bad thing. I think I'll skip it until he really pushes the issue.

I know what you mean! It's so hard to get away from. I remember just hating Disney's Lilo & Stitch because the older sister threatened to put the little sister in a blender and chop her up!
