Before my sister and I sat down to watch SATC this weekend, she asked if I thought it would beat out Indy at the box office.
She and I were going to see this much talked about movie, while our husbands, my kids and our parents went to see Harrison Ford strap on his Indiana Jones gear. They were very happy to do so.
I gave a vague answer, like "Hard to say. It think it'll be close, but if it does beat Indy, it will show women do make an impact at the box office." I rolled my eyes as I said that.
Apparently a few screens down, my parents and the kids (that includes the husbands) had their choice of seats. We were glad we didn't have to sit in the front row.
As we walked through the doors - at a 12:30 p.m. matinee, granted (since she didn't get to moms until LATE Friday) - the place was packed. Estrogen filled the room - maybe five men were in the entire theater, and I'm betting they were forced to come. A few women sitting near us brought in plastic champaign glasses to have a toast. I'm not sure if they snuck in real drinks - it is easy enough, though, with the right purse.
Plenty of women dressed up -- many carried designer purses and strapped on some cute shoes. I felt a bit underdressed. I was looking cute, though...just not glam.
"Sex and the City" did quite well during its opening weekend, selling $55.7 million in tickets. Read more here.
If you went, what was it like? Did the movie live up to your expectations or did you think it was too long? Did the women sitting around you go all out?

I went with my Mom on Friday
I went with my Mom on Friday for a matinee. I was in business attire since I had an all day interview prior to going, so I didn't get to get dolled up for the occasion. I saw it in Mesa near my mom's house, so really no one was dressed to the nines(not that you can't dress up in Mesa, but seems to be more casual than Ahwatukee or Scottsdale). I loved the movie!
I liked it, too. I laughed
I liked it, too. I laughed tons and cried a few times. I did think it was a bit long, though.

I went with my aunt and
I went with my aunt and cousins 4 total like "the girls". I did attempt to dress glam like Carrie cute shoes and all, I was the only one in the group that did though... The movie was all I expected plus.. I had to go potty towards the middle of the movie, needless to say I held to the end, (barely made it). When we let out of the movie I realized I was not the only one, we were like a stampede of women headed straight for the powder room! After the movie we met up at my house and played the Sex in the City trivia game over appletinis and cosmos.. I am still paying for those darn drinks... When the movie is released on DVD I will be celebrating with apple juice thank you!

My sister and I went to it
My sister and I went to it and I loved it! Good ol' Sex and the city! Although a mom brought her son, he must have been five, six years old!! From him jumping around and making noise to him even being there, i got pretty annoyed!! ( why a parent would be her five year old son to an R rated movie, let alone SITC is mind boggling to me!)
But the movie was super good!
