Favorite kid movies

Our movie reviewer wrote about 5 of the best non-animated kid movies. Read it here.

What are yours? ET - on his list - is definitely one of ours.

My son tells me his favorites are Spy Kids (the original is his favorite of the three) and Harry Potter.

My daughter is stumbling out of bed now, but I'm sure she'd say High School Musical is one of them.

My girls (now 14 and 9)

My girls (now 14 and 9) watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang so many times I was sick of it. And Pollyanna is a current favorite with my 9 year old.

I rented Wizard of Oz for the first time in years this last weekend, and my 9 yr old watched it twice on Sunday. She didn't remember seeing it when she was younger. We've been reading the Wizard of Oz book series (I think we're on #4 right now), and that's why I rented it. When we watched it together, she was really upset at first because the movie is so different from the book. We had quite a bit of discussion about how they are different forms of entertainment and how you just need to enjoy it both ways.

I know it's not a movie, but both my girls can watch Gilligan's Island for HOURS (until the theme song is firmly implanted into my brain for days and days - lol).

And Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a favorite with my oldest. She'll watch that over and over, too. (Actually, bad mom confession time, my youngest likes it, too.)

Well, my personal favorite

Well, my personal favorite is the Sound of Music, but it sends my 9-year-old screaming from the room with his fingers in his ears, especially when I sing along.

He likes E.T., too, as well as Escape from Witch Mountain, the Swiss Family Robinson and 5 Children and It.

My daughter (5) likes the

momto1lil1's picture

My daughter (5) likes the Wizard of Oz, the Beethoven movies, Saving Winn Dixie, The New Parent Trap (of course her favorite part is when the girl friend nearly inhales a lizard ... lol ..), The Incredibles, 101 Dalmations, and the list goes on and on ... one she won't watch that I bought thinking she'd like is Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. It's the older version one, but she says the girl who turns into a giant gobstopper scares her ... well she actually says the girl who turns into a big blueberry .. lol .. although that one used to be one of my favorites so I was hoping she'd like it so we could watch it together. We watched ET together when it was on the family channel a few months back and she was scared of ET at first, but then she got into the movie. By the way Nickelodeon is airing ET this Friday, a special movie engagement of some sort.
