My son was about 3 when we
My son was about 3 when we took him to see Toy Story - He loved it (we saw it 3 times in the theatre). My daughter was about 4 1/2 the first time I took her (she has aphergers so it was a little tougher to do this with her). I love it in the summer time (too hot to do a lot of other things except swim or museums). I would recommend the drive through if you are worried about expense though. For a matinee (which we usually go see) it's about $30-45 depending on if both kids go or not.
If you go this weekend I hear that new Horton movie is fantastic. We are planning a trip next weekend to it while my DH is fishing for the weekend.

I took my 25 month old son
I took my 25 month old son to see Horton Hears a Who today. It was his first movie and he did great! A little wiggly here and there, but he loved the story so much(we read the book ALOT!), so it kept him entertained. He cried when it was over.
Just bought the book and
Just bought the book and love it--can't wait to see the movie!
we first bought the book and
we first bought the book and read it to my 3 year old several times - just so that he got the story before going to the movie. he just LOVED it. however my son has enjoyed going to the movies (rated G only) since he was 2.5 yrs old. he's just like his daddy -loves going to the theatre.

Loved the movie .... theater
Loved the movie .... theater was packed with children from babies on up .... my daughter is 5 and initially said " I don't want to see it, it's too babyish" .... she loved it!! I definitely recommend for any age!!
definetly recommend it i
definetly recommend it i took my kids to the movies last weekend and they both loved it, they are 2 1/2 and 4, hope you and your child enjoy it too!
xoxo
My whole family loved it,
My whole family loved it, including my husband. The reviews I read were not very good; however, we thought it was great and very funny. My children are 4 1/2 and 2 and they did very well throughout the movie and it captured my 2 year old's attention for the entire movie.
Note: You can go to Safeway and purchase $30.00 of specific frozen food in one transaction and then get two movie tickets in return. The movie tickets could be used to go see Horton Hears a Who or any movie of your choice. This special ends April 1. We did it and enjoyed our free movie.
Seriously, Moms, it costs
Seriously, Moms, it costs $35+ to take a couple of kids to a movie? That's so sick and wrong. I don't even know the math, but I know that that's a huge markup per year over even the past 10 years. We had a first date (albeit in a small town) and saw Nanny McPhee a couple of years ago, and tickets for two adults were less than $15.
For $35, I'd expect a live performance, live music, and performers who greeted each child like a long-lost best friend.
Unfortunately, so long as we pay the ridiculously inflated ticket and concession prices, theaters will keep charging them. Imagine all the alternative entertainment and special snacks you could buy for $35.
I agree that it costs a lot
I agree that it costs a lot of money, but nothing now a days is "cheap." My hubby and I have a total of 5 kids together (and on our way to 6) so I usually keep movie going days to just me and my daughter and son. I don't think $35 is a lot in that aspect considering lunch at Peter Pipper, Chuck-E-Cheese, Mc Donalds or whatever else is generally right up there is price (pizza places ALWAYS cost the same, others about 1/2).
You really want to choke on a price, we went to KBF last weekend and although that was pretty cheap, we went to this Pirates Theater dinner and tickets alone for 4 cost us $220. It was a fantastic show, but for that price and out tickets to KBF we could have easily gone to Disneyland. Just something to think about...
Of course when it comes to my kids, money has never and never will be an object. I want them to enjoy their youth as much as they can...
