Ok, so I am sure a few moms out there have seen Mtv's Super Sweet 16. I was just telling a friend today that I just happened to catch an episode today and am just amazed at the luxurious lives these girls live and what they get handed to them. A few (most ) of these girls are rotten to their parents and sometimes even their friends. I figured it might also be a bit over dramatized at the producers' request to get more reaction from the audience. Apparently not, Mtv has a new show called Exiled. On the new show parents send their daughters who once appeared on Super Sweet 16 into "Exile". These parents are fed up with their spoiled daughter's behavior (their own creation) and want to teach them a life lesson by sending them to a third world country to live with a family for a week. Pretty interesting and I think I will be tivoing this show.

These girls definitely need
These girls definitely need a "Reality Check', but I kind of feel sorry for the Thrid World countries who have to put up with them for a week!
Seriously though, you're right that it's the parents who created the monsters in the first place. Hopefully seeing how life is for the majority of the world's population (those who do NOT live in self-indulgent luxury) will help give them the perspective they need to become productive, caring adults. It's just too bad that they had to get this far before getting any real 'values training.'
PS --- Do any of the rest of you 'over 40" moms remember when MTV showed VIDEOS?!?!?! It used to be THE place to check out the music scene, and there were top notch clips from the likes of Huey Lewis, Michael Jackson (back when he was good looking AND talented), Pat Benatar, Asia, The Police, the Fixx, Eurythmics, the Hooters, etc.
NOW it's just repulsive, obnoxious TV shows that border on porn. Sad to see the demise of a cultural icon
New to AZ --- and missing autumn leaves and the smell of apple orchards!

The one named Marissa (I believe that is her name) she is from here in Scottsdale.

Yep! Her dad got into some
Yep! Her dad got into some legal trouble over it too. He was using company funds when he wasn't supposed to be to pay for the party, or something to that affect.
I will have to check out
I will have to check out that new show. It will be a reality check for those girls. Maybe it will change them into doing something good with there money and help others who need it.
I do remember when MTV played videos! Now I think there are a few different MTV's and I think one of them may play videos
I'm skeptical that spending
I'm skeptical that spending a week helping out a family in a third world country is going to change values that have been reinforced for 16 years.
I agree - one week will not
I agree - one week will not undo what took 16 years to create. The parents need to look at how they're raising/have raised their children. There's really no one to blame but themselves.
