Indoor Play

destryTV's picture

I can't believe it's going to be 95 degrees on Sunday! I'm not ready for the hot summer weather.
I need to go over my warm weather schedule.
You know, the plan to head to the zoo the zoo the minute it opens! My exit time is 10:30am.
In the summer, we have also tried splash parks. They have a lot of mini ones in my neighborhood. We try different ones every few weeks.
Of course, we love the pool. The public pools also have great toddler areas. Although, that means I have to get in a public swimsuit too!
Chuck E. Cheese is also a fallback choice. Have you ever tried the Bubble Up game? I'm more addicted to it than Hayden is to skeeball!
The mall is great, but I can get into trouble there!

The Children's Museum is also opening up this summer. I can't wait!

But, I really need to find more indoor play areas. Has anyone tried Kids Town, Toy Town, or Imagination Ave? They look like a lot of fun for my toddler and baby. I'm always looking for something on the weekend!
I can't find a lot of options in the Arrowhead area. If you have any ideas let me know.

In the meantime, Let's start organizing the sunhats (Gymboree has the best for kids!) and the sunscreen. Good Luck!

We have been to Toy Town and Imagination Avenue and they are both a lot of fun. KidsTown closed about a year ago. I think we might try the zoo as well though since the kids seem to really like the splash pad area.

Imagination Ave. is okay. I really like Fun Time 4 Kids off of 32nd St. & Thunderbird. It's a nice, clean place and they even have a small cafeteria. Here is their website: funtime4kids.com/

Also check out the local libraries-they offer some great story times. My children love getting to select new books to read!

We practically live at the YMCA during the summer. All of my kids swim on the swim team (no trying out - as long as they can swim across the pool - any stroke - they're in). With two practices a day, and two meets a week, they're kind of zonked out and ready to do some quiet things indoors. Harkins theaters also have a great summer deal - movies on Friday mornings. They show all the older movies (like Shrek) and are good for all ages. Lastly, the libraries are a great place to hang out - and their summer programs are great!

Even in summer, we try to make time to play outside in the am. My son LOVES to paint the tile patio with water and a paint brush! It's like an outdoor aquadoodle and he can paint anything he likes with no clean up for mom. Plus, if he spills it on himself he will be nice and cool.

For those in the

For those in the Chandler/Gilbert/Mesa area, there is also Way 2 Play Cafe (similar to Toy Town) in Chandler and Jeepers in Mesa. We also enjoy Makutu's Island in Chandler and we buy the summer movie passes.

Don't forget the Science

Don't forget the Science Museum. They have something for all ages and it is nicely air conditioned! We bought a membership to the Science Museum this year instead of the zoo just because of the weather factor.

I've taken my kids to a place in Surprise a few times. It's called Nutin But Fun, it's sort of like a Pump it Up but it has a lot more play time. We had the kids birthday party there in May and had a bunch of fun. We are trying to get the word out for them because we need places to play in Surprise!!
