Hot momma!?!?

ArizonaMoms's picture

Do moms want to be thought of as hot? I'm guessing on the inside they do - otherwise we wouldn't be tempted by plastic surgeon ads for "post baby tuneups."

But it seems there is a line when it comes to hotness. We don't want to be paraded around.

A Chandler bar holding a hot mom contest tested that last weekend. Just four women entered after a lot of convincing. Read more here.

So what do you think? Would you dance provocatively to win a contest that includes laser hair removal, massages, personal training, a photo shoot and clothes?

No, I would not have done

karilouMomof2's picture

No, I would not have done it. I wouldn't have done it before children and most certainly not after. There are those out there that need that outside acceptance, I am not one of them. I sometimes consider myself shy and my friends laugh when I say this. I guess what I am saying is I don't need to be the center of attention. I do great in supporting roles. Mind you, not all the time. There are times I feel like I am shining - but NEVER in a bar or public venue like this contest. If those Moms feel good about themselves and need or want to do this, at least it is in a safe place huh? More power to them, just not me.

Should be re-named to "Great

Lavender_Sea's picture

Should be re-named to "Great Mom" contest. I've got that extra 10 that can't seem to go away after having my daughter 18 months ago. So I can say I would not go parading around trying to get people to label me as hot. I wouldn't mind being graded as a "Great" or "Spectacular" Mom though. I would find that to be a great contest. Sounds like the Mom's got embarrassed at the contest (as I would if I got boo'd). Not every mom has the money or time to loose that last 10, and I don't think it's very fair to be paraded around like a piece of meat in front of drunk guys only to be embarrassed unless you ask for it.

No prize would get me to

No prize would get me to dance provocatively on a bar.
There are just so many things bizarre and wrong with this story. First of all it was a "Hot Moms" contest. Okay, so no doubt there are some really gorgeous post-baby moms out there, and I think the intent was to showcase some of them. Unfortunately, no one wanted to compete, and the handful who were convinced got a little carried away and embarrassed themselves and the audience. I think something like this could be pulled off tastefully, but it's a pretty thin line when you are judging someone on their "ability to do a shot in a sexy way." Come on. The sponsors of the contest should have put a little more thought into what they wanted to achieve.

I can't imagine doing that

ArizonaMoms's picture

I can't imagine doing that either. I'd love to be showered with massages and a personal trainer, but I wouldn't strip down to a camisole or even tank and shorts and "jiggle" in front of others.

There's also the whole thing about how your actions reflect on your kids. I don't want to embarrass my kids like that. They already find it embarrassing when I blog about them.

Anyway, the only hot mom contest I want to win is my husband's. And hotness to him - I hope I'm not embarrassing him by this - has a lot more to do with me laughing and having a good time and not how much makeup I'm wearing and if I can fit into my skinny jeans (I can't!).

Yes, I would. Hear me

Yes, I would. Hear me before you judge...

Who doesn't want to be hot, a mama or not? Once you have kids sometimes you feel like you're life is over and it's all about them.

So what do us moms do to feel sexier in times of low self esteem?
We buy new shoes, clothes, go out with the gals, go on a date to a bar/club with our significant other (if lucky enough to be able to get out)...

...SO WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? Some of us did these things before we got pregnant.

Yes, I would go to a club and dance because dancing makes me feel good about myself. I feel like, 'I still got it'...

But no nudity. I'm not a stripper. Bottom line is, it's all about confidence. Even if you don't have it--fake it. It's true--a woman with self confidence is sexier then any perfect body.

...and that's rejuvenating. So where do I sign up?

I agree with you on

ArizonaMoms's picture

I agree with you on confidence. It makes a world of difference for a woman's self esteem and that influences the way people look at her.

I would not have entered the

me's picture

I would not have entered the contest even before i had my daughter. LOL! Personality wise, it's just not me. I don't need anyone to tell me whether i am hot or not. Never have.

What's important to me is that i am comfortable with myself and that makes me feel good about myself. Not judging anyone who has done it or would do it. Just saying it's not for me.

I think a true " Hot Mama "

mwheeler's picture

I think a true " Hot Mama " contest would be more like this:

Who looks the sexiest after working all day ( SAHM or outside the home)
a. Cooking dinner
b. Driving the mini van to fifty places in a given week.
c.Cleaning the home, scrubbing the toliets ( now that is sexy) !
I think you get the point!
I wouldn't do it.....for my hubby, sure.

LOL! Also, helping with

ArizonaMoms's picture

LOL! Also, helping with homework, doing laundry, caring for a sick child, etc. etc. And all on 5 hours of sleep and no time for exercise. :)
