I really wish they could

I really wish they could somehow stay with their moms and just be away from the father. You can't tell me a foster/group home is a better alternative for these kids than their own mom.

I agree, the moms should be with the kids, there have been no allegations of abuse by mothers, as far as I have read, they are victims too. The kids are going to have a hard enough time adjusting. The whole situation is just a tragedy.

I feel bad for the kids. I think that especially the small ones will have stress issues from this. Being pulled away from their mom. Poor kids. It's always the kids that suffer, and it is never fair. I really agree with the above moms the moms should be able to be with the children. I can see why they shouldn't though. The moms don't believe anything wrong is happening, and may tell the children what to say, and never get the truth out of them.

It's true. Since the mothers

It's true. Since the mothers are allowing the girs to be "married" and mothers as minors, and allowing the boys to be cast out of the community (to lessen competition for "spouses") it may be the right thing to do to separate them from their children until this can be fully investigated. As mothers, our hearts break for these children and mothers, but the mothers are both allowing this to happen, and have been known to discourage the children from telling the truth about what is really happening. Nothing replaces the mother/child bond, but not every mother always does what is right for her child. SAD ALL THE WAY AROUND.

This is a no win situation.

This is a no win situation. I agree that the children should be kept from the Mother's until it is figured out. I don't agree with foster care though. I was under the impression they were putting them in a kind of group home, i.e. camp where they could all be together. Whatever happens, it will leave scars for these children and the parents. The whole thing is very sad.

This is so sad and such a sensitive subject. I think the mom's should be able to see their children but not have them back yet. From a mom's point of view I sit and think how could these women let these things go on, but then I think this is all these women know. They have been brainwashed and are victims too. But then you think that even though they may have been weak to let these things happen to themselves they should have been strong enough to protect their kids. It's tragic and shame on authorities for not acting sooner but thank God they did. What these men are doing is illegal and authorities should not hesitate to arrest them.

Are the mothers cooperating?

Are the mothers cooperating? I imagine the children will be returned as soon as they figure out what is going on. Cooperation from the mothers would speed things up a lot.

I have talked about this in

workingmom.Lisa's picture

I have talked about this in the last few days and like anothermom's comment, I think that there is a no win situation. Perhaps if they allow the moms to keep their children under government supervision, both the moms and the kids would be better off until the investigation concludes. While its alleged that the moms knew of the underage marriages, there is no doubt in my mind that they love their kids and while it wasnt legal what they were allowing to happen in their community, we dont know what happened in the community, perhaps these moms just did not know better since they were isolated from the rest of the country.
