Tempe mom wins $200 Bashas' gift card

One of the few posts Kathleen Dominguez, aka “minivanmomma,” made on arizonamoms.com paid off big when she was drawn as winner of a $200 Bashas' gift card.

The 28-year-old Tempe mom is a long-time regular on the chat boards at arizonamoms.com.

“I love reading everything (on the site),” she said. “I like the local advice. A lot of the time I do searches. I like the local opinions, I want to know what other moms do. But I don’t have time to post in between phone calls.”

Dominguez works part-time as a reservations agent for Alaska Airlines in Ahwatukee.

Dominguez, who is expecting a baby boy in late August, is also mom to a 4-year-old daughter, an 8-year-old son and 7-year-old stepson.

The $200 Grocery Giveaway asked readers to reply to a post with their own money-saving tips. The contest drew more than 200 responses.

Dominguez's tip: Smart grocery shopping. "I plan almost all purchases on what is on sale only. I stock up on the frozen food when it has a super low price and if hamburger or chicken is on sale that week, I buy at least 5-10 lbs of each and freeze. Whichever fruit is under $1/lb I stock up on for snacks all week."

Dominguez was waiting to show this posting to her husband, Manuel, to surprise him with the news.
