The Desert Botanical Garden
The Desert Botanical Garden is my favorite place to take visitors, especially if they have never been to Arizona before. They are always amazed at the beauty of our desert--most think it's a bunch of dirt and a few cactuses. It's great for the family because you can stroll along the paths (even with a stroller) and they have a nice place to eat lunch. They also open very early, so you can go when the temperature is cooler.

This is a very nice place to
This is a very nice place to visit. I agree. It has an area where you can snap a family portrait on one of the paths that says,' Greetings from the Botanical Garden in Phoenix Arizona." Its a great keepsake. Plus, I believe that she would really enjoy the many different varieties of cactus. Beautiful to see!

What about the Grand Canyon,
What about the Grand Canyon, Slide Rock, Wildlife Zoo, White Tanks?
There is no way to be a perfect mother, but a million ways to be a good one!
If you're looking for some
If you're looking for some cooler weather, Prescott isn't too far away. I don't know how old your son is, but there are a couple lake here where you can go fishing (no swimming), easy hiking/walking, and plenty of fun parks. Downtown is fun to walk around...and actually for the 4th the annual rodeo is going on. There is also a huge art/craft fair downtown next weekend (the 4th).
It's can be a long day if you go up and back...or my parents have a gorgeous house to rent for the night(s) just minutes available from downtown. They rent the house by the night, week, etc. Almost anything you need. Fully furnished. Has beautiful views of downtown and the mountains, Thumb Butte, Granite Mtn. And you can see the fireworks from the casino very well from the patio-no need to worry about crazy drunk drivers at night.
Let me know if you're interested...I can get you some info regarding the rent, etc.

What city is she from? I"m
What city is she from? I"m from the Nacogdoches and Tyler area in Texas, between Dallas and Louisana. How wonderful that she is visiting for the first time. I know she will love it and the new grandbaby.
All the places mentioned are wonderful places. We always loved visiting Tortilla Flats. The scenes are just breath taking and the restaurant there is very nice to visit with lots of souvenirs. The lake is on the way, and its gorgeous with mountains surrounding it. Many great scenes for pictures too. I promise that she'll love it.
When I use to fly out from Texas to visit Arizona, this was the place I always wanted to go see again and again.
Have fun where ever you go!
I always love seeing other Texans coming to town.
One Happy Mom in Arizona.
