Ok, so i need your feedback regarding tipping when ordering from a restaurant and picking up your meal curbside.
My husband says you do not tip the individual who brings your meal out to your car and I think they should get a $2 or $3 tip. I am the one who goes to get our meals when we do the curbside deal....so it's not like he has to face the individual who he doesn't want to tip....so I always make sure to give them a tip, but I give them cash - so that my husband doesn't know that I gave them a tip. I know that sounds horrible, but i feel really bad not tipping them. My husband and I have had this discussion some many times and i honestly don't want to have it anymore.
I actually asked the girl at one of the restaurants if people often tip for this service. She kind of chuckled and said yes. I told my husband about it when i got home and he was like "well, what did you think she was going to say?"
What does everyone else do? Do you tip the person who brings your meal to your car?

I don't tip at curbside
I don't tip at curbside pickup, and I think your husbands was right when he said, "what did you think she was gonna say".
When I tip at resturants, I always leave cash because when you put the tip on your credit or debt card, they have to claim it on their taxes, and it's bad enough that they don't make very much to start with.
" just my Opinion"
I have always tipped the
I have always tipped the person who delivers the food to the car - about a dollar (two if it is boiling hot outside :o)
sure, fine, whatever
I tip them too, but
I tip them too, but honestly, I am getting a little tired of all the places you find tip jars. I mean come on, they are everywhere from sandwich shops to Starbucks. These people are doing the basics and thinking a tip is deserved. You don't tip the chef in a restaurant, you tip the server because there is SERVICE involved. As a former server, bartender and cocktailer(allpart of traditional tipping positions that make $2.13/hr) it still makes me cranky. Does putting a scoop of ice cream on a cone really warrant a little extra reward????? I think not.
This posting is right up my
This posting is right up my alley because I was a waitress on and off for about 6 years as a second job (and sometimes just for a second income). The rule of the trade is this. Anytime you go anywhere (whether it be a Sonic or a resturaunt) and some one brings food to you (at a table or a car) you should tip especially if the order is over $10. It doesn't have to be much (they are only bringing you food) but it should be about what you tip the pizza delivery guy (I usually do $2-3 for him).

I think tipping curbside is
I think tipping curbside is appropriate but only a buck! It's not like they have "served" you a full meal when 15-20% would be appropriate.
I am also SICK of tip jars everywhere. The dry cleaners, autobody shop, etc. It's out of control! Maybe if I put a tip jar in my car my kids will tip me as I run them around!

I do tip curbside too. I tip
I do tip curbside too. I tip one dollar and I feel cheap for giving then just the dollar. But last week I waited and waited and waited for my curbside to go order and I had two sleeping babie in the car. I had to go in and I was (inappropriate term). I didn't tip then and I told them why. The sweet little hostes felt bad but the girl working to go couldn't have cared less. But I never have left a tip in a tip jar. With Pizza I always feel bad so I give those guys like 5 or 6 bucks... So am I tipping to much for pizza? I didn't know everyone elsae did 2 or 3..

I feel if they're doing an extra service for you, such as running your meal out to the car for you so you don't have to go into the restaurant, you should tip (though maybe not as much as table service - I think a couple dollars is fine). When I go into a restaurant to pick up a pizza, no, I usually don't tip. Nor for that matter, if I just get a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Only if they do something special or out of the ordinary.

Oh and I should clarify that
Oh and I should clarify that I have never tip for sandwiches being made or for starbuck's, but now I'm rethinking that because I do tip for Cold Stone off the whole, "I tip the bartender for making me a drink so I guess I should tip someone for making my other stuff for me as well." I know I haven't in the past because these people are paid as if they DON'T receive a tip. Oh and $5-6 dollars for delivering the pizza seems like a lot, but then again I don't live far from our pizza place.

Yes, when I go to Sonic and
Yes, when I go to Sonic and the young boy or girl brings out my food, I always tip them. Even at Applebees Pickup.
My husband got through college making tips, so he is a huge fan of tipping. Don't get into a conversation with him about tipping..OHHH, he will straigten you out quickly how important tipping is.

I tip everyone. The kid at Sonic, the guy at the carwash, the pizza delivery guy, servers at restaurants of course, and I would also tip the person bringing my food curbside. I've never ordered curbside service except for going through the drive thru at Sonic, but I would tip them too. If I'm so lazy (and I am) that I can't make my own dinner or go sit in a restaurant and have to have someone bring food to my car, they deserve a tip. Tell your husband he's cheap and continue to tip them the $2-$3 you have been giving them! :)
I tip as well at the curb
I tip as well at the curb and when I order pizza.....but I don't tip in the jars.
I think two dollars is fine for curb side, after all you did drive there just to pick up. I do tip the pizza person more 4 - 5 dollars because they brought it to me.
I pretty much tip everyone,
I pretty much tip everyone, too. I figure if I can afford to eat/drink out, I can probably afford to give the person who makes/brings me my food/drink a little sumpin'-sumpin', too. Then again, I used to tip well even when the service was really lousy (I know, I know...) and I no longer do that. Have I grown, or what??!! haha
I will tip when someone
I will tip when someone brings the food to me, but how about when you go pick up pizza and the counter person puts on a tip for handing the pizza over to you. This has happened twice and I have complained. I now pay cash there.
