I joined a food co-op (I voluteer every other month) called Bountiful Baskets a couple of months ago. It is a non-profit group that provides great local produce to East and West Valley families. If I were Oprah, it would be on "My Favorite Things" list. I have been extremely impressed with it each week. It's different each time, but today, in my $15 basket I received: a cantaloupe, eggplant, baby carrots, 4 onions, 12 potatoes, 7 pears, 1 carton raspberries, 1 pint cherry tomatoes, 1 lb. mushrooms, a head of lettuce, 2 crowns of broccoli, 7 apples, 2 oranges and 7 bananas. It has totally revolutionized the way my family eats and every other Saturday feels like Christmas. Check it out at www.bountifulbaskets.org

This sounds very cool. Do you have to volunteer to be part of the co-op? And if you do, how much time does it take per week/month?
I know asking about volunteer time sounds terrible, but when you have less time than needed, you become very particular about how you dole it out. :)

You don't HAVE to volunteer, but they highly recommend it. But, there are plenty of people who don't. I do once every 2 months and when I do it takes a total of 1 hour. Pretty easy and it's a fun place to meet new moms!

Sounds like a great thing and a great oppertunity.. i will have to look into it and see about doing it as well sounds very good :-) and it would be nice to have my family eating better foods as well giggles..
