So, I've been wanting to add yogurt to my son's menu. He just started whole milk this last week, and has been doing well.
I was at the grocery store and saw that there is a yogurt product made specifically for babies/todders...I don't remember the name, but it was made with whole milk, and was organic. I normally don't feed organic, but am not against it. This particular product was more on the pricy side for me.
My question-what have you fed your young children (brands) for yogurt? I know the whole milk is the best...but I noticed a lot the yogurts are made with 1% milk.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Babies like all yogurt but I
Babies like all yogurt but I used the Yo baby brand which my daughters both loved. Even plain yogurt with baby food or pureed topping on it is good. Yo Baby tastes pretty good though.
I fed my son YoBaby Yogurt.
I fed my son YoBaby Yogurt. It's whole milk, organic(probably the brand you looked at) and contains protein and some fiber(they have some with cereal in them). Very wholesome and delicious! Babies need the extra milk fat for brain development. i would caution against giving your child some of the other kids brands which seem to be the same as adult yogurt with more sugar. Now that my son is 2, we switched to their YoKids brand that is lowfat. I highly recommend it.
I've been feeding Yo Baby
I've been feeding Yo Baby yogurt to my girl since she was about 6 mos. old and she LOVES it. My Dr. said it was fine, as cultured milk products don't usually have the same effect as just regular milk. Even if you decide not to go with this brand, do get a full-fat, cream top, organic yogurt - Stoneyfield makes a good one, and Trader Joe's always has a nice selection. You can buy it in a big 32 ounce container and just pour it out. It's cheaper this way. Make sure you stir it really well first so that you break up the cream and mix it in. You can add your own "flavor" to it by adding bananas or peaches, whatever. Good luck!
It's probably Yo Baby that
It's probably Yo Baby that you saw. My daughter loved it when she was a toddler. I tried the Yo Kids version recently and she didn't care for it.
My daughter loved Yo Baby
My daughter loved Yo Baby too. I would caution against giving her too much dairy at once, however. I gave my little girl lots of whole milk, cheese and yogurt after she turned one, and she started to get eczema and itchy skin. Turns out, she had a milk allergy. She can tolerate it fine now at 3 years old, but I think I gave her little body too much all at once!

I, too, am the mom of a baby
I, too, am the mom of a baby (and now a big boy) that loved Yo Baby! And, Trader Joe's has the best prices.
You might note that the dairy products sold at Trader Joe's are rBST-free. That was a big deal (and still is) to me, particularly after we discovered that our son was allergic to the antibiotics in most commercially produced eggs.
Trader Joe's has their own version of Yo Baby (packaged just the same and in the same dairy case) that you could try. I can't remember if it's made with whole milk; however, I do know that it has a higher fat content that low-fat.

I asked the pediatrician if
I asked the pediatrician if I should be giving my daughter the baby yogurt, or if normal yogurt was fine. She said she didn't think there was much of a difference - that I might want to check the sugar content. She said normal yogurt was fine to feed - even well before 12 months. My daughter (approaching 11 months) has only tried a few flavors (the whipped strawberry is probably her favorite so far). I just bought Yoplait, but do not give her the full container (split in between two snack times). The whipped kind has less sugar and calories.
It is one of the few things she will still let me physically feed her (likes the finger foods - doing it herself).
Thank you so much! Yes, it
Thank you so much! Yes, it was the Yo Baby brand. But I'll check into the other brands.
We don't have a Trader Joe's up here in the Prescott area, but next time I'm down in the valley, I'll make an effort to get there.
Great info-thanks!
