It's not just a "dry heat", it's dry air. You probably need to drink more water. I read that there is a higher incidence of kidney stones here, because people don't drink enough water.

We just moved here and we've
We just moved here and we've had that too. My 11 year-old son gets nosebleeds all the time, and my husbands nose is filled with what he refers to as "cardboards."
I agree you need more hydration. You might also try using a humidifier at night, at least until you get acclimated to the dryness out here.
New to AZ --- and missing autumn leaves and the smell of apple orchards!
WATER, WATER, WATER!! You
WATER, WATER, WATER!!
You might want to try saline spray up your nose before bed, and when you wake up. A cool mist humidifier works wonders, and actually keeps the room cool too!
But seriously, it is SO easy to become dehydrated. Sluggish?? Headache??? chances are you're a little dehydrated and a couple of sips of water will make you feel better almost immediately.
Get into the habit of carrying water everywhere.
Good luck and welcome to AZ!!
the humidity is almost nil
the humidity is almost nil this time of year, and that is probably a complete 180 from what your body is used to. You need to stay hydrated and give your bodies some time to adjust. My sister and nephew were just out here for a week...they are from Ohio and they noticed the dryness.
One bonus..........it seems to do wonders for your complexion if you have a mild case of acne...........and if you have curly hair and straighten it it will actually stay that way all day!
Humidifier will do wonders.
Humidifier will do wonders. I run one in each of my girls' rooms at night. If you happen to have a swamp cooler that will help.
One good thing about our dry air, your chips do not get soggy!
But alas, our dry air will turn into a monsoon and then it will be icky humidity. The beauty of our dessert life.

Yes, it is terrible, my nose
Yes, it is terrible, my nose is always raw inside this time of year! I had a dr tell me to use that antibiotic cream on the inside of my nose, but i don't really like putting that on.

Lots of water of course, and try some simple saline nose spray. My son was having similar issues this spring and I would spray some saline in his nose a few times a day - and the bloody boogers went away. Arizona is a very, very dry state - always extra hydrate yourself.

Use a bit of vaseline on a Qtip and lubricate the inside of his nose before bed. That plus a humidifier works wonders.

Vaseline works wonders, I put a small bit in each nostril at night - I still have a busy tissue in the morning but it's not as bad.
I agree with all the other
I agree with all the other comments but there is one thing you should know: most newcomers experience the bloody boogers syndrome as well as a mild to moderate sinus infection. I'd check with a doctor before too long. My first sinus infection here was a bit prolonged which made my climate adjustment very uncomfortable. Monique
There are so many pollutants
There are so many pollutants in the air I would recommend an Air Source. It has helped so many people with sinus / allergy related issues and it might help you too! Can't hurt to try it - the Air Source is amazing!!! Shaklee offers a 100% money back guarantee too.
Every day the average adult breathes in up to 900 cubic feet of air. And the Environmental Protection Agency states that “since most people spend a majority of their lives indoors, the quality of indoor air is a major area of concern….” In fact, the large surface area of the lungs and the sensitivity of the tissues make them particularly susceptible to air pollution. Pollen, dander, smoke, and mold enter our bodies through our large and vulnerable lungs.
The AirSource 3000 helps reduce all three of the major forms of air pollution: particles such as pollen, pet dander, dust, and cigarette smoke; microbes such as mold and bacteria; and gases and odors. That's especially critical since the Environmental Protection Agency consistently ranks indoor air pollution among the top five environmental risks to public health.

I agree with humidifiers
I agree with humidifiers although you have to be careful if you have a ton of carpet in your house. It you buy one, look for one that has a ultra fine mist.
Also, there's a nose spray called Ocean Air. They sell it at Costco and it works very well.
