Commando RX

lovemy4's picture

We are having other discussion about body parts and commando-ism, so I thought I'd share this. I have a friend who has had problems with yeast infections (hope this doesn't offend, but it is part of life), so she saw her Dr. today, who told her that it might help if she stopped wearing underwear all the time. My friend took it to mean to bed, but it made her jokingly ask me if maybe Paris or Brittney are actually following Dr.s orders by going commando, and aren't forgetting after all. We doubt it, but it COULD be the explaination.

Anyway, the Dr. said especially with the heat in AZ, good vaginal/flower health includes good air circulation (not as good as Paris and Brittney's, of course, but maybe at bedtime). Just a medical FYI, that I hadn't heard before.

My ob/gyn told me the same a few years back....he suggested that I stop wearing thongs or g-string to sleep in, and either go without when I am sleeping, or wear cotton briefs or bikini underwear. I did it, along with a few other things, and it has really seemed to help.
I also bought pantiliners especially made for thongs and I use them when I wear thongs during the day....to keep things dry(sorry, I know that's graphic)

Paris and Brittney are

Paris and Brittney are suffering from "child who never had boundaries" syndrome, and their reluctance to wear foundation garments has nothing to do with health and everything to do with shock value.

That being said, well, uh, I dunno what a "flower" is, but labias, urethras, cervixes, and other female parts that don't get washed up and aired out are apt to get crotch rot, as are penises and testicles. We don't hesitate to teach kids to scrub 95% of their parts, but we're too freaked out to hand them a soaped up washcloth and ask them to clean the other 5%, even though that area is exposed to icky/dirty body waste (urine and BMs), and probably needs cleaning more than any other. Kids shouldn't be put to bed in tighty-whities. Warm and damp cotton breeds infection. What are we scared about?

"Flower" was a reference to another post, that asked if people teach accurate names for genitals and someone said this was the term they heard someone used for their daughter. You might enjoy that post, I think it is still listing in the "most popular" list.

I agree with your comments btw. It is sad that in my late 30's, I'm just getting this information...

I've not been told that..but I have been told to avoid polyester undies. Cotton is best for breathing. Also, I was told not to wear pants that are too tight. I've not had an infection in forever...but I don't wear super tight pants and mostly cotton bikinis...lacy poly blends are for special occasions. Can't do the granny panties. LOL.

I have never had an infection - thank God. I have been told that some of us are more prone to get these infections because of our chemical makeup. Friends have been told to cut back on sodas and sugars and that seemed to help them. I wear thongs btw but nothing at night.....
