Ok, not to cause a big alarm but I have talked to five friends about a place for pedicures in the west valley.. Litchfield Park, Goodyear area and ALL FIVE have had problems with fungus or infections at totally different nail salons all in the last two months. They all used those massage chairs. One friend got a really bad infection and one friend was cut so bad she had an infection that needed a dr to look at it and give her meds... This is scary. These nail places are not cleaning this stuff or something... Does anyone have a place to tell us about that they have been to for a few yrs with no problems? I just noticed on my heal a cracked area (which I haven't ever had) with a few little tiny brown dots that looked like they were under the skin and I was picking at them (this may sound gross) but my husband said they are seed warts! I have never had a wart in my life and now I am starting to think it is from the place where I got my pedi... I'm mad!
I'm from Tx and I have never ever had any probs getting pedicures.
So please share any place that has done a good job for you for a good period of time..
Also if you know anything about these so called seed warts share that also.. I don't want to go to my dr and say I have warts on my foot.. That is gross!

So please share any place

The place to go is Wendy's Nails - 16th St and Glendale. In fact they have done services for Mrs. America in recent past.

Does anyone know of any
Does anyone know of any good, safe places for pedicures in the Gilbert area?
I have had friends tell me horror stories like yours as well so I just do the pedicures myself, but it would be nice to find a good one to go to in the Gilbert area.
My sister and I have been to
My sister and I have been to a salon next to startbucks, across the street from Dana Park off the 60 and Val Vista. We have never had a problem. The ladies were nice and attentive. Try it out!

Terrible!!! This is why I
Terrible!!! This is why I do my own pedis and I use my treat $ for getting my hair colored and my body massaged (which btw, I recommend Massage Envy - they have very late appts so you can go after dinner and after the hubby gets home. I have never had a bad experience! :-)
If you have the slightest concern that what's on your feet are seed warts or any other wart for that matter, you need to go to the dr right away. Warts are a virus and they need to be treated or else they will spread. Don't pick at them or you will make it worse. Here's a good resource for you to check out:

I would also file a complaint with the Az Cosmetology Board since there is a history of unsanitary practices at this establishment. Here's the link to read about their process for filing a complaint:

Good luck!

Ugh - what a bummer to hear
Ugh - what a bummer to hear about infections, etc. b/c you never know when you go places...
In terms of your heel - sounds like a "planter's wart" - the most common place for them is the bottom of your foot.
While I've never had a single wart grow (out and up like a bump) on my hands (or wherever else they grow?), I did get a planter's wart on my heel in college ...gross dorm showers (need I say more?).
The difference is that b/c you put weight on your foot, these grow in, instead of out.
Honestly, you probably don't need to go to a doctor, but you do want to get it killed/out as soon as possible, so it doesn't continue to grow deeper and deeper (and eventually need a doctor to cut it out - ouch!).
Easiest thing is go to CVS/Walgreens and ask for "Salycilic Acid pads." They do not require a prescription. And, I think they are quite cheap for a box.
Salycilic acid is the ingredient in aspirin. So basically, these are small pads that are pre-treated with aspirin.
Some even have a sticky side so you just cut a small piece and stick it right onto the spot!. Anyway, you cut a small piece to put over that spot on your foot and then put tape/band-aid, whatever you want to hold it in place (obviously, walking around will scoot the thing off "the spot.").
It will turn that part of your skin white, don't freak out...but it will essentially just kill that top layer of skin, including, of course, the part of the wart that it touches.
After a couple of days, you'll be able to pick that piece of skin right off because it will be just some dead, exfoliating skin(pick it with your finger, a scissors, anything you want). Then, immediately do another pad to get at the next layer. Just keep removing layers until you have killed and removed all of it. You'll be able to tell when it is gone.
The entire process will be completely painless...
And, if it happens to be where you have calluses, the bonus is the callus will come off too!
I had to do this for 3 months one summer during college. Obviously, after that, I got flip flops for the showers...and now you ought to see how picky I am with my kids at the showers at Lifetime Fitness!!! :)
The good thing is it IS on the bottom of your foot. No one will see or know, and you can still wear sandals or whatever! But it is contagious....so maybe your husband will want to check his feet...I assume you two share a shower!

My older girl got one and I
My older girl got one and I never realized where she got it. It could have been from a pedicure - anyway, the doctor just burned it off. Well, froze it off more like it. Didn't take anytime at all and it healed nicely. She didn't say it hurt either.
