I would recommend you check
I would recommend you check the label on the medication for the appropriate dose for your 7 month old. Weight of the infant is very important when giving them medication.
If the label does not state and says ask your doctor, then i would check with your doctor. My pediatricians office has an after hours phone to call for the dr. on call and there is no fee for doing this at our office.
My dr. also does not like switching between the Motrin and Tylenol his nurse told me once. But Motrin seems to last longer as far as a pain reliever for my daughter when she is teething.
just~me
Motrin is an
Motrin is an anti-inflammatory and Tynenol is a fever reducer. Motrin is the choice for teething but at the same time, only use it as needed...give your baby a pacifier to chew on it or something...

When my son teethes, I give
When my son teethes, I give him Motrin because that seems to work best, but I try to only give it to him at night or at naptime if he was really uncomfortable. I also give him teething pellets. They are homeopathic and seem to really help. You can get this at the grocery store or Target/Walmart. A semi frozen baby washcloth worked well for him at other times because it was cold and had a nice texture, but he was still able to manipulate it easily unlike alot of teething toys. A little bit of orajel will ease the pain before/after eating.
Wow, does it all sound too
Wow, does it all sound too familiar and it will get worse.
Our son is not a fussy baby but we always knew when he was in pain. We had to give motrin when the tylenol didn't seem to work. Thats the only way we got through those horrible pains. We always gave 1.25 mL of Ibuprofen depending on the weight and .08 mL of Tylenol. I believe our son was around 23-25 lbs. He was heavy for his age. Your pedi should have a form that tells you the exact amount to give per childs weight. We had to give Ibuprofen every 6 hours and sometimes Tylenol every 4 hours. Also, we applied cold clothes to his gums. Get a chart from you pedi because you are going to need it.

Thanks for the feedback. Of
Thanks for the feedback. Of course I would only give him any medication on my doctors recommendations for dosage and frequency...we have been waiting for these teeth for what seems like an eternity and I know how much the motrin makes him feel better. It's great to hear others opinions and input. Thanks for your replies.
The recommended dosage for
The recommended dosage for tylenol is 15mg/kg & can be given every 4 hours
Motrin is 10mg/kg & can be given every 6 hours....not to be given to children 6 months & younger.
This applies to children with fevers...start w/ motrin then tylenol...so you're giving something every two hours to prevent a febrile seizure.
These dosages are recommended in the pediatric emergency departments.
to figure kilogram: pounds dvided by 2.2 = kg
10lbs baby is = 4.5 kg (45.5 mg of motrin) or (67.5 ~68mg of tylenol)
Oh my gosh!!! I would love
Oh my gosh!!! I would love to share what is WONDERFUL for us right now and it was for our 2 yr old also... They are those teething tablets you get at walgreens..They are all natural and OMGosh, they work instantly! I hate giving meds but I also hate waiting for them to kick in and have my baby scream so these things are a godsend!
Oh my gosh! I love those
Oh my gosh! I love those teething tablets-Hylands Teething Tablets. My daughter was adopted from China at 9 months, and had 2 teeth, within the first year of being home, she got 10 new teeth. WE LIVED OFF HYLANDS TEETHING TABLETS AND MOTRIN!!!!! Don't know what we would have done without them! And my daughter liked chewing on hard items like spoons and toothbrushes, she did not like the teethers or anything soft. Good luck!!

I would strongly suggest
I would strongly suggest staying away from Hyland teething tablets. Look at the ingrediants and also notice this is not a regulated medication. It is herbal which means the pills do not always contain the same amount of things. I have a girlfriend who swore by them and another who is a nurse and they went round and round about it. I wouldn't take the chance. Glad it worked for you.

My pediatrician does NOT
My pediatrician does NOT like any of those teething tablets or Orajel either. It's funny because I thought giving my son something hard to bite would make him feel better, but it actually irritates his gums more! Any sort of constant biting..soft or hard...really seems to hurt him. The frozen wash cloth seems to be working well during the day, and then if he still seems to be bothered at night, I give him a little less than the recommended dosage of Motrin and it works. Thanks for all the good advice!
