Ok, So about 2 months ago my husband and I were going out with a group of our friends in Scottsdale. I was in a hurry so as I was getting ready I realized that I had forgotten to pluck my eyebrows so I grabbed my razor from the shower and just ever so lightly I shaved the hairs that I could see (in my 10x mirror) Anyway, so I noticed a little more hair like above my lip and the sides of my checks and my brilliant idea was to just again ever so lightly shave it off before I put my makeup on. So I did. I thought it was a great idea b/c I was just going over it light. So it's been two months and now it seems that I am plucking my eyebrows all the time. Like every other day. AND worse is the hair on my face is noticeable. I remember that when I was going through all my fertility treatments to get my 2 yr old having a little facial hair b/c of my screwed up hormones but now? Anybody have anything that works? Shaving didn't really do it for me... Creams will break me out, waxing will give me ingrown hairs like a breakout...Can't afford 2000 right now for my plastic surgeon to do it... Eventually yes but right now I need help... I'm a (botox)girlie girl and if my face doesn't look perfect I freak.. I won't even leave the house with a breakout, which was also I side effect of my brilliant idea... Help please.. advice needed...

Have you tried those facial
Have you tried those facial hair lighteners? I remember getting some in college. They aren't exactly a cream. You mix a cream with a powder. I was allergic to it, though. I didn't break out, just wanted to scratch my face off.
I wax or tweeze any stray hairs on my lips and around my eyebrows and haven't had ingrown hair problems. Maybe I'm lucky.

Oh, diva.....didn't anyone
Oh, diva.....didn't anyone ever tell you NOT to shave your face??
I don't know if this will help, but my MIL does to a derm doctor and they have a lazor treatment for unwanted hair.My MIL said it cost 200 hundred and last for a while, not sure how long a while is. It maybe a thing for you.
I, too get the upper lip hair but lucky for me I can use cream.
Good luck, and Diva keep the razor away from your face! :)
Seriously... it wasn't such
Seriously... it wasn't such a fab idea.. I thought it would be a quick fix... I have some bleaching cream from Obagi but it's for freckles and stuff. The hair is already blonde but you can still see it and then my make up doesn't go on as smooth... I didn't know that Dr's do that laser stuff so cheap. Where does she go? There is a med spa that just opened up the street, I wonder if they do that or if I should go to my Dr? When I was doing my in-vitro I had some places waxed and my face seemed to breakout a little but maybe it was the cream she put on after and not from in grown hairs?

Sorry to hear about the
Sorry to hear about the shaving experience :( I actually am self conscious about my arm hair and bleach those suckers... probably not the best for the skin, but it works! Not sure if you can try a little on your face, but may be worth a try!
diva...you are cracking me
diva...you are cracking me up over here......a quick fix is pinning a shirt......although I can see your reasoning.....I don't mean to laugh....I have had moments of insanity....looking at the razor...but I knew that would cause, more problems.
I will have to ask MIL, I think her derm doc is on my side of town.
I think the 200 is only for upper lip.I agree it must be more for other areas. She said it was that much because the doc wanted her to do it....anyways...I hope you find a solution.I totally understand the unwanted hair! When I was laid off from work...I was likeing not having to worry so much...and I was taking my son to school, and the sun was shining on my face and my son made a statement about my mustache....THANKS HONEY! He said I don't want you to be embarrest...mama!
LOL...I promise my next step
LOL...I promise my next step for a bad hair day won't be me with clippers channeling Britney!! Can you just see my post then! LOL...
Oh, and the tequila involved was later on that night..
If before, I couldn't have gotten my fake eyelashes on..lol..

Diva, honey, tell us the
Diva, honey, tell us the truth. Was tequila involved?
Well, here's the thing....
Well, here's the thing.... laser hair removal can be awesome, but only if the hair is dark. I don't think the hair on your face is dark enough for a laser to remove it. In fact I'm pretty positive it isn't.
I've done laser hair removal on my underarms and my bikini area, and the whole process took about a year because you have to go back for 4-6 treatments, depending on your hair growth. It was really successful on my bikini area (no more wax or razors down there!!), and fairly successful on my underarms. (I still have to shave my underarms, but only like once a month.)
Don't even attempt this method of removal unless the hair on your face is brown or darker (okay, now you all know the truth -- I'm not a natural blonde) because the laser just won't "see" it to kill it off.
Now there is a type of wax removal that is a gentler form of wax, and I don't know what it's called, but it's specifically for sensitive skin. I know of a couple of places here in Chandler that have it, but I imagine there are more out there. Maybe you should try that. I have very pale, sensitive skin and have never had a breakout or rash problem with this certain kind of wax.
Also, just a random waxing tip that I've learned over time..... try not to do a waxing when the humidity level is high (ie: monsoon season), because you have a greater risk of the wax taking off more than just hair. I've had this happen once and I looked like I had an awful burn above my lip for about two weeks.

May I ask how much the
May I ask how much the underarm and bikini treatments cost? and where did you go to do it? AND was it painful?? Sounds like you are happy with it.

I did these treatments too.
I did these treatments too. They can be painful, but it's like a rubberband snap. Well worth it for a furry gal like me.
I went to Physicians Skin Institute in Scottsdale off the 101 and Princess. The prices are reasonable and don't go somewhere cheap because those lasers must be used correctly and you pay for what you get when it comes to customer service. This spa is also a school and they teach people across the nation so they are very reputable. www.physicianskininstitute.com
As for the gal asking the question, yes the hair needs to be dark and the skin fair. I have olive skin and I barely make it. I think the person who reccomended the gentle wax was on to something. I know they have that wax at the Boulders spa. A good excuse to go!
Now desertmom...You know I'm
Now desertmom...You know I'm not that patient to wait a yr.... lol...I can't stay with anything that would require me going back for 4-6 treatments.

Okay, Diva -- a little more
Okay, Diva -- a little more serious.
Even well after menopause (both my grandmothers were 70 years old when I was born, and all of my aunts were at least in their late 40's), I don't remember seeing the hair on the upper lips of any of my female elders. As eyesight faded, we did help them pluck chin hairs.
I called and asked my Mom about that. She says that all they had was a razor (the old metal kind that you dropped a double-edged blade into), a pair of tweezers, and over-the-counter bleaching products.
I have both waxed my eyebrows and had them waxed professionally; for me, it beats tweezing. Frankly, if I could find an old-fashioned razor, I'd prefer to use that over the plastic double/triple/quadruple-edge razors we can find today. You need to be careful, but the shave lasts a lot longer.
