I've never done a detox diet but am increasingly drawn to them. I want a good kickstart to getting healthier. My skin is terrible right now, I have no energy and I know I need to exercise more, A LOT more. I've also heard that it can help you to lose some weight. I dont really want to do it to lose weight, more to help with energy levels and clearing my skin up. I just want to use it to increase energy so I can get out there and be more active. I'm hoping it will help curb the sugar and carb cravings I'm getting in the afternoon and help me get back into the habit of eating a more balanced healthy diet.
So what I want to know is have you done a detox diet before? How did you do it? Was it worth it, what were/are the benefits? Did you feel better for having done it? Or is it just like all the fad diets that we see all the time that dont really do anything?

My 23 year old went on the lemonade/pepper detox program about a month ago. She is very disciplined so it worked out well for her. She said her face cleared up, she lost 9 pounds and she had a lot of energy. It also helped her with sugar cravings and she is eating healthier now.
My 21 year old daughter had tried to do the same program a few weeks before her sister but she gave up on it because of the preparations involved and she was away from a kitchen for long periods of time so she couldn't do it.
I can find out what my older daughter followed if you are interested.

One of my friends tried to get me on the lemon and pepper cleanse. She gave me a bottle of her mixture. It tasted pretty good. It definitely curbs hunger, but I didn't have the discipline. I have just heard so many warnings on detoxing. Be careful.

Our bodies don't really need this type of "cleanse". I think any severe change you make to your normal diet will cause temporary weight loss, but if you lose mostly water, then you'll gain it all back.
The only way to really lose weight is to eat a healthy diet and exercise more, there is no quick fix. To make matters worse - as we get older, it just gets harder and you have to be more disciplined about what you eat and how much you work out. I have to think more about what I put in my mouth, but to be honest I get kind of a high from depriving myself of treats and sugary snacks.
If you are having problems with your complexion, then I suggest seeing a dermatologist and drinking more water.
I have tried the lemon
I have tried the lemon cleanse twice and while I did get more energy and lose some wieght I gained it right back and some more. Was not worth it to me.

I know this isn't what you
I know this isn't what you want to hear but it's the truth. If you just eat better and MAKE yourself exercise you will feel one hundred percent better! I am 50 years old. I started weight watchers in Janurary. I'm not here to advertise that but the fact is - they have taught me to eat correctly. I started exercising and I swear I feel better than I have in years. So far I've lost 25 lbs. I'm very happy with that, don't get me wrong. But I'm more happy about the way I feel. My skin looks better, I have more energy but the biggest improvement I see is emotionally. I feel more focused. I just feel better! You don't need detox or to spend a lot of money on diets. Eat right. Exercise. It works!!!

OK I'm convinced. I'm going
OK I'm convinced. I'm going to try to drink lots and lots of water, eat fresh fruit instead when I crave sugar and just try to pay more attention to what I am eating. I've made a plan to walk the dogs with my neighbour each night after dinner and my 18 year old has agreed to watch the other 3 younger children for me while I go for my walk. It's not enough but it's a start.
Thanks for your input :-)
