I am interested to hear about all your ideas for keeping our children fit and exercising for their health. I recently found this yoga dvd for children which is fantastic at getting them to exercise and still have fun. Its called Yogaland! The Australian Adventure and I highly recommend you other moms check it out! www.MyYogaland.com

Any other great suggestions?

At One Yoga has kids yoga

At One Yoga has kids yoga classes in a seperate studio at the same time when parents can take a seperate class as well as a family class on Saturday which accomodates all ages and all levels.

Also my daughter and I like to hike together. Pinnacle peak mountain is particularly kid friendly.

Also I've entered my

Also I've entered my daughter in a few of these kids races. They usually have them in conjunciton with some of the bigger adult races. It's a great experience for them. She seems to really enjoy it. Like here's an example:

Thanks for sharing. I always find it interesting how statistically we hear how children in the U.S. are so overweight. I have a 3 year old boy and he is soo active - he actually is around 20 percentile in weight for his age. I have other friends with kids and their kids too are underweight. Where are all these overweight kids the stats talk about - I rarely see them around (maybe another part of the country?) However, regardless I do agree exercise and balanced meals are key to excellent health in general - child or adult. Thanks for the DVD recommendation!

You are very lucky your 3

You are very lucky your 3 year old is so active, keep involved in his life on a daily basis and he will be fine.
When you get to the school age you will start to see the overweight children. Fast food and school lunches are a big part of the problem as well as a lack of exercise activities for children. It takes extra time, but the more you can prepare your food at home and get your kids involved as well the better off they will be.
I have been running an exercise program for children here in Mesa since 1989, and see far too many overweight children and the problem is getting worse.
Good luck and keep moving.

My girls take dance and love

My girls take dance and love it. We keep them pretty active with biking and playing in the backyard too.

I would love to get my

I would love to get my daughter who is going to be 2 in October into a dance class. She is 100% percentile in height, but she is 75% in weight (i'm guessing because of her height). She's not overweight by any means, and she eats very healthy stuff. Her daycare is very active, but I'd like to get her into something that she could enjoy maybe on the weekends so she isn't bored. Does anyone have any dance class information for babies in the very east valley, or something fun that doesn't cost a lot of money? Any info would be fabulous.
