So as most of us do, I put on a great deal of weight while I was pregnant (close to 60 pounds to be exact) and while I've been doing slimfast for 3 weeks and have lost close to 10 lbs., I feel like I should be doing more. Does anyone have any workout suggestions for someone who just had a baby?
Please note that I am a single mom, so going to the gym isn't an option for me.

Losing baby weight was tough
Losing baby weight was tough with my second child. I think it's great that you have lost 10 so far!!! Here are some extra food suggestions, switch to whole wheat and grains and cut your carbs down, make sure you drink 8-10 glasses of water, stay away from soda and juice (I drink propel for sweet stuff) and eat lots of fresh fruits / veggies as snacks.
Now to the excersise suggestion. I have 2 kids and a gym membership and honestly, I'm ditching the membership this month because I never go anymore. I'm purchasing a eliptical to do in my home (about $300) and a couple of 5/10lb weights. If you get an eliptical with movable arms it works your whole body. The weights are to help tone my flabby arms and upper body. Also, if you child is ok in a stroller, walk every day. I know it seems silly, but I lost about 30lbs from walking alone. I've been told that adequate time is 30-45 minutes a day w/ dieting to see good results.
Good luck!

I am a personal trainer (+).
I am a personal trainer (+). Tell a little more about yourself - your age, your 'occupation,' how long ago did you give birth, your hours etc - Have you ever worked out in the past, where is your weight held on your body etc - The more I can start to paint a picture of your circumstances, the more I can point you in the right direction. (It can be very frustrating I understand) . . FYI - I posted the post just below yours if you want to see a little about me. Best wishes -
I did see your post and if I
I did see your post and if I had the space and the cash, trust me, I'd definitely love to help you help me out, haha!
I'm 22 and my son is almost 9 weeks old. I'm an escrow officer so basically I push papers at a desk from 8-5. I wake up at 6 every morning to get myself ready and to get my son to daycare. I was working out pretty religiously prior to getting pregnant as I was working my way down from some previous weight issues. I'm very large chested and what most would describe as voluptuous naturally, so the extra weight makes it really hard to find anything to wear. Any helpful hints?

If you have a car seat that
If you have a car seat that snaps into a stroller, try to go on a 25-30 minute walk 3 times a week around the neighborhood after work. With the weather getting nicer each day, it still should be fairly light out when you get home. I started doing that with my baby when she was about your baby's age, and it made a huge difference. Even if you do only 15-20 minutes to start it will make a big difference. Good luck!

Nine weeks is a short amount
Nine weeks is a short amount of time it took you 40 to put on the weight. I think walking is a great way to lose it and also some excersie videos. Give yourself time.
Slimfast really isnt a good
Slimfast really isnt a good way to lose weight.....you need to feed your metabolism to get it going enough to burn the extra weight. Cut out simple carbs (sugar, bread, pasta) and eat protein and veggies... eat small meals throughout the day to keep your metabolism going...with exercise the weight will come off.
9 weeks is a short amount of
9 weeks is a short amount of time, as others have mentioned. I wouldn't stress out about it too much. My goal during my pregnancy and after my baby was born was to just eat healthier - cutting out most of the sodas and eating cooked veggies and chicken, etc (I wasn't really strict - just making the healthy choice if there was an easy healthy choice available). I also didn't exercise much - I have back problems.
The loss of weight was weird. I expected to continually drop weight. Well, that's not what happened. Instead, I would go for a month or two and then drop several pounds all at once. And then go for another month and then drop several more pounds. The crappy part was that I would always think "well, that looks like the weight i'm going to be at now and my weight loss is done", and then i'd buy clothes, and then they'd only fit for 4 weeks. :)
At any rate, just enjoy your new baby and try to eat healthy. Don't stress out too much. It will all fall into place later.
Congrats!

I breastfeed for a little
I breastfeed for a little over a year and yes the weight came off...however my body was used to eating a lot....so I did put a few pounds back on.
I agree with the some of the other post nine weeks is a short amount of time and if you lost ten already be proud of that.I also gained sixty pounds with my son....he was ten pounds.
Good luck and don't stress so much over it, enjoy your new baby...in time your child won't let you sit for a minute...and there will be more weight to go....
I have been in the same boat
I have been in the same boat as you. There are several things that might help. Just taking the baby out in the stroller and walking fast has helped me in the past. I have found lots of fee sites online that help you stay motivated and that has really helped me. www.traineo.com and www.diettv.com are both really cool free sites I have found online. Have a great day:)
Hi. Congratulations on your
Hi. Congratulations on your baby. I am a certified postpartum fitness specialist. It sounds like you are on the right track. I highly suggest that you start to move away from the slimfast and start to incorporate whole grains, vegetables, fruits, and lots of water into your diet. Your body needs the correct nutrients to function properly and therefore allow you to lose the desired weight. Check out www.mypyramid.gov for more specific guidelines on eating a healthy and balanced diet. You should also definitely start a workout program. If you are serious about losing the weight, start working up to doing some type of cardio exercise (brisk walking, jogging, aerobics, etc) for a combined total of 30-60 minutes on 4-5 days a week at an intensity where you can still carry on a conversation, but with some effort. You need to burn calories and make healthy eating choices to lose weight. Give your metabolism a boost too by participating in a total body resistance training program a couple times a week. Contact me via my website (www.phoenixfitnessweb.com) and I will send a copy of an article I recently had published on how to lose the baby fat. I will also send you a free report on the "Five Must Know Abs Exercises". Good luck. You can definitely lose the weight and keep it off. You deserve it after all. PS I'll send the same information out to anyone else who contacts me too.
