Hi Jenn- I am a pregnancy
Hi Jenn- I am a pregnancy and postpartum fitness specialist. Don't be discouraged. You are suppose to gain some weight while you are pregnant i.e. the baby gets heavier, the placenta get heavier, your breasts enlarged, your blood supply increases by about 4xs, and yes you do put on a little extra body fat. Your body is working so hard. Most women gain about 30--35 lbs during pregnancy. Instead of being discouraged that you are gaining weight, instead be happy that your body is working correctly to make a healthy baby and you do your part to make sure you don't gain any more weight than what your body needs to gain. By this I mean, exercise regularly (with the ok of your OB) and eat a healthy diet (your are not "eating for two" in terms of you need to eat enough calories for 2 people - pregnant women only need about an extra 300 calories per day, not 2000 more calories per day!!) Make all of your calories count. Your diet should be rich with whole grains, vegetables, fruits, and lean white meats (chicken, turkey, fish). Of course avoid foods you are allergic to and definitely avoid any foods with trans fats or that are high in saturated fat or sugar. Unfortunately, I am in the west valley and I am unfamiliar with classes on the east side. However, if you will contact me via my website (www.phoenixfitnessweb.com) I can send you the exercise guidelines during pregnancy that you can discuss with your OB. In addition, I am more than happy to help you out after your baby is born via online personal training and phone coaching. When you contact me about the exercise guidelines, if you remind me, I will also send a free report on the five must know abs exercise for you to use AFTER the baby is born. Good luck and again, don't be discouraged about the weight. Please contact me through my website if you have any other questions about pregnancy or postpartum fitness. Have a great day.

I would also love to find a fitness class pregnant moms and have not had much luck. I did see that Lifetime Fitness offers pregnanncy Yoga though. I'm on the westside of town, anybody know of any other classes?
Hi Jenn, I own a yoga studio
Hi Jenn, I own a yoga studio in North Scottsdale called Zenergy Yoga. We offer pre/postnatal yoga on Sundays from 12-1:15 and offer a Baby and Me yoga where new moms/dads bring the baby and do yoga with the baby at their side. It's a great way to get back into shape, meet new moms and have your baby by your side and not in a gym day care. We were featured on Sonoran Living a few times which you can watch on our website at: http://zenergyyoga.net/index.cfm?fuseaction=sitecontent.default&objectID...
Thanks and hope to see you in class if you can get up to Scottsdale!
